Part of the reason I’m so put off by heterosexual marriage is that straight people are so in your face.

I’m mortified to see such blatant homophobia in response to this post. Janice, if you don’t support same-sex marriage, don’t buy this product and don’t marry someone of the same sex. I, for one, will be spending more of my dollars at Nordstrom. Well done Nordstrom.

I love it! Too bad I can’t smell things through my computer yet because this sounds delish!
@Janice – If you take issue with Nordstrom’s politics, I would encourage you to stop supporting them. We genuinely need people to be more politically active and stand up for what they believe in – carefully choosing where you spend your money is an important part of that. However, it’s also important to recognize that is there no such thing as a neutral corporation. Companies, like Nordstrom, make thousands of business choices everyday that have an impact on politics. Starbucks could chose to make a few more dollars by not supporting Fair Trade products and practices (did you know Starbucks is also a big supporter of marriage equality? It is). Companies also give directly to politicians – Microsoft is Obama’s top supporter. And Obama has declared he supports marriage equality. Do you have a computer that runs Windows or Microsoft Office? Do you use Facebook? Money from those things goes to support marriage equality – in fact, it stands to have a much bigger impact than the sale of a fragrance by Nordstrom.

And just to prove that Nordstrom shoppers (and this country’s citizens) come from all over the spectrum of people and belief systems, I will proudly be spending as many dollars as I can at a store that is willing to open up and proudly say what they stand for, instead of pretending that they, as a corporation, don’t have an opinion. I would much rather knowingly support companies that support me, than unknowingly make people who would like to see me in jail (or worse) rich.

Janice, you’re wrong.

The company name is Nordstrom. Not “Nordstrom’s”.

Thank you.

Janice, Janice, Janice – as the profoundly masculine Cary Grant might say. Do you drink coffee from Starbucks, use Microsoft products, fly in Boeing airplanes? Hate to inform you, but by your standards stated above, you will have to forego these companies’ services as they support GLBT rights, civil unions and those lovely things that lift our society out of the gutter of ignorance and intolerance into the sanity of good will to all. How does my pursuit of happiness impact your pursuit of happiness? Alert to Nordstrom: regard that sagging bottom line as Janet withdraws into the 18th century.

This is repulsive. I think part of the reason people are so put off by gay marriage is because everyone is trying to make it so ‘in your face’. If Nordstrom’s is a supporter, I’m cancelling my card today and will no longer be shopping there. Corporations should maintain a professional opinion and stay neutral.
