M•A•C Cosmetics Senior Artist Gina Bettelli dishes out tips on getting that warm, healthy summer glow without the need for exposure to harmful UV rays.
Sunless tan makeup tips
The perfect sunless tan is a look all of your favorite celebrities have, and you can too! It’s that sandy, caramel tone that’s both chic and effortless. Achieving the perfect tan is about getting the finished look to be believable. Here’s how to do it.

MAC Cosmetics Wash & Dry Studio Sculpt Defining Bronzing Powder is a unique gel formula that feels lightweight and sculpts the face. It’s a silky, sheer powder in realistic, sun-soaked shades–like M∙A∙C Wash & Dry’s Golden Rinse. Sweep the bronzer along your forehead, temples and jaw in the shape of a “3” for an everyday warmth using the 126 Split Fibre Large Face Brush.

Take your tan to the next level by dusting Studio Sculpt Defining Bronzing Powder in a “W” shape across cheeks, nose and chin. Whisk Mineralize Skinfinish powder high on the cheekbones with a fluffy brush to imitate a sunny flush.

For a luxurious, glowy base, prep your face for bronzer and finishing powder with Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation and soak up all the approving nods from your peers.

MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL

Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal attended the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing an amazing Roland Mouret gown that needed little embellishment. Together with her team, Charlotte created a simple yet sultry beauty look, topped off with a bold red lip.

Here’s how to re-create Maggie’s makeup look:

1. Maggie’s skin was prepped with the Goddess Skin Clay Mask, Magic Cream and WonderGlow Instant Soft-Focus Beauty Flash Primer for a perfect canvas. Her complexion was perfected with Light Wonder Youth-Boosting Perfect Skin Foundation in 4 and 5. Then The Retoucher Conceal & Treat Stick in 2 and 3 were used to conceal any imperfections. Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder in Shade 2 was then swept over Maggie’s cheekbones.
2. Maggie’s eyebrows were sculpted with the Brow Lift in Grace K.
3. Eyes to Mesmerise in Jean and Marie Antoinette and The Golden Goddess Luxury Palette were used on Maggie’s eyelids for a sophisticated, creamy look. To lengthen her lashes, the Full Fat Lashes Mascara was used.
4. Filmstar Bronze & Glow was used to sculpt and highlight Maggie’s face, with a focus on her temples and cheeks which were accentuated with Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson Colour of Youth Lip & Cheek Glow.
5. On Maggie’s lips, the artist used Matte Revolution Lipstick in Red Carpet Red (available July 29th).
6. Supermodel Body was applied to Maggie’s limbs to create the illusion of longer legs and arms, with a hint of shimmer.

Here’s how to re-create Amal’s makeup look:

1. Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask was used to create a veil of perfection on the skin. Charlotte then applied Charlotte’s Magic Cream to the entire face followed by WonderGlow to create a flawless soft focus and an instant “spotlight” effect, a skin ritual that Charlotte calls “The Gift of Goddess Skin.”
2. Amal’s skin was kept looking fresh and clear of imperfections with The Retoucher Conceal & Treat Stick in 2 Fair and 3 Medium and Light Wonder Youth-Boosting Perfect Skin Foundation in 7 Medium, and rid the face of any unwanted oils with a dusting of Air Brush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder in 2 Medium.
3. Next, her brows were sculpted with the Brow Lift Three-Way Shape, Lift & Shade Tool in Cara D.
4. To accentuate Amal’s eyes, Charlotte applied the POP shade from The Dolce Vita Luxury Eyeshadow Palette across the lids. The Classic Eyeliner Powder Pencil in The Sophia was used to line the eyes along with three coats of Full Fat Lashes to create a dramatic, open-eyed look.
5. An unbeatable red carpet-worthy glow was created using Filmstar Bronze & Glow to highlight and sculpt the cheek, nose, jawline and temples, and her cheeks which were accentuated with Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blush in Love Glow.
6. Amal’s lips were prepped with Lip Love Lip Renewing Honeybee Scrub and Lip Magic Rejuvenating Smoothing Balm, and then Charlotte lightly applied her new Matte Revolution Lipstick in 1975 Red (available July 29th).

Our beauty trend editor Kate Fannin gives us the low down on the best and brightest in anti-aging products.

kates-take-anti-ageing-products

As I celebrate my birthday today, it’s the perfect time to mention some favorite anti-aging products (and some that just make me feel or look younger than my 42 years!).

I started using sunscreen in high school (and am thankful I did; I shockingly still get carded sometimes). Also, I diligently follow my dad’s greatest ‘beauty’ advice, “keep a lip balm in every jacket pocket”–that has saved my lips more times than I can count! Ultimately, you’re truly as young as you feel, but a little ‘preventative maintenance’ and good old-fashioned primping never hurts. Nor does a glass of champagne and gourmet cupcake on your b-day…

M∙A∙C Cosmetics Senior Artist Ashley Rudder explains how to re-create the face used for Kate Spade’s A/W ’15 runway show at New York Fashion Week.

“What was your favorite show this season?” That’s a question I keep hearing in the wake of Fashion Month. A slight bit of panic ensues after anyone asks me what my favorite looks were this season! However, as I mentally scroll through all of the glorious A/W ’15 shows, a few standout looks come to mind: perhaps the romantic, smoky-grey eyes that were created at Thom Browne? Or the futuristic “Bond Girl” black-and-white eyeliner at The Blonds?

Surprisingly enough, the look at Kate Spade–created by M∙A∙C Cosmetics Director of Makeup Artistry Lyne Desnoyers–has remained my makeup crush all season long!

I don’t want to keep this crush to myself, so here is how you can get the look (one you might get after walking on a brisk fall evening through the woods) with its subtly flushed cheeks and rosy pouts.
