Kate’s Take: Top 10 Adventure-Ready Products to Pack

Kate Fannin, our beauty trend editor, is constantly asked which beauty products she recommends when preparing for travel. Here, she counts down her top 10 travel essentials for summer adventure.

Me hiking Mt. Abraham, the 5th-highest summit in Vermont

Last week, a friend told me about her upcoming 6-month South American adventure that she’s embarking on with her husband. (Color me jealous!) They’ve been budgeting for it for several years and have one simple objective: “Explore what’s out there and enjoy the adventure.” (Color me very jealous.)

When she asked for some travel-friendly beauty suggestions, I realized how often I’m asked for recommendations about good/easy/packable products. So here’s my top-ten list of simple items—many are multi-taskers and some even unisex. Let the summer travel adventures begin!

Yves Saint Laurent ‘Touche Éclat’ Radiant Touch

#1. Great as a light concealer or highlighter or for quick touch-ups, and it’s super-portable too—a cult classic for a reason.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

#2. Simplest alternative to foundation–always rated #1 and just easy to apply and remove.

Fresh® Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15

#3. Awesome lip balm that offers just a hint of color AND SPF—no mirror needed.

Laura Mercier ‘Mosaic’ Shimmer Bloc

#4. A daily staple. Even if it’s the only “color” I have on: bronzer, blush, even eye shadow—all in one.

Dior ‘Nail Glow’ Nail Enhancer

#5. You may not feel like packing nail polish, but if you take just one, this one is awesome. It magically brings out the natural tones in your nails and makes them look finished, plus no worries about color chipping!

butter LONDON ‘Scrubbers’ Nail Polish Remover

#6. And if you DO take polish, these travel-friendly polish-remover wipes are a serious must-pack. They remove even dark or bright colors in a snap.

Shiseido ‘Pureness’ Refreshing Cleansing Sheets

#7. A hint of luxury in a much-appreciated product that removes makeup, cleans your face and does triple duty as a stand-in body wipe.

Unisex options that I highly recommend (and that are husband-tested and husband-approved!)

Supergoop!® ‘City Sunscreen’ Serum SPF 30+ PA+++

#8. My current fave sunscreen–super-light, non-greasy and unscented (perfect for guys).

Kiehl’s Since 1851 Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap

#9. Great soap option (if you’re in one place long enough). It’s SUPER-exfoliating, which works for sticky days or before using a self-tanner.

Kiehl’s Since 1851 Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Cream

#10. Deodorant is non-negotiable, and this one’s easy to use, totally portable and unscented.

And that’s my take!

Are any of the facial things hypoallergenic? I would love to use them.

Hi jennlynn, it doesn’t look like any are above, but here are hypoallergenic products for skincare and makeup.
