Chrissy Brooks, a Beauty Stylist at Nordstrom The Mall of Georgia, tells us why she can’t stop recommending the Nordstrom-exclusive Bobbi Brown ‘Hot Cocoa’ Palette.

HERO

Here are just a few things I love to share with my clients about the ‘Hot Cocoa’ Palette:

1. Travel friendly: It comes with blush, eight eyeshadows and a mirror for touch-ups.
2. Goes from day to night: The palette includes soft, matte colors for day as well as shimmery shades to take you into night.
3. Versatile: This is perfect for an everyday soft nude eye or a fun holiday look.
4. Givable: It makes an amazing gift—for a seasoned Bobbi girl or someone new to the line.
5. Multi-use: The deepest shade in the set, ‘Black Chocolate’, can also be used as an eyeliner.
6. Best of all: It’s great for all skin tones, eye colors and ages!

For her spring 2014 collection, CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist Misha Nonoo was inspired by the surrealism and freedom present in artist Gerhard Richter’s work, as well as by the Royal Air Force uniforms of her native England. The collection evokes a woman who is a little undone and natural but strong at the same time.

Bobbi Brown created a complementary makeup look that features clean, fresh skin with a nude eye and a popsicle stained lip (stained lips are something we have seen a lot of this season). The emphasis is on the skin, which exudes a youthful and innocent glow.

Face: ‘Hydrating’ Face Cream, Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation and Foundation Stick.

Eyes: Nectar & Nude Eye Palette (the Nectar & Nude Collection launches in spring 2014, but for a similar look now try the ‘Katie’ Palette), Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in ‘Espresso Ink’ and  ‘Smokey Eye’ Mascara (a Nordstrom Exclusive).

Cheeks: Brightening Nudes Brightening Finishing Powder (the Nude Glow Collection launches in spring ’14; for now try ‘Pink’ Brightening Brick Compact), Retouching Powder in ‘Pink’ and Blush in ‘Nude Pink’.

Lips: Blazing Red & Miami Pink Lip Color (debuting spring ’14); these Bobbi Brown Lip Colors are now available.

Quick How-To: Create a stained look by pressing lip color into your lips with your finger; blot and repeat until the desired color is achieved. Pressing and blotting allows the color to be absorbed into the lip and gives it staying power. (It’s best to exfoliate and moisturize your lips the night before for longer lasting color.)

Everything Bobbi Brown is doing this season is about rejuvenation and luminosity. To help us celebrate our 2013 Anniversary Sale in glowing style, we asked the legendary artist to create an exclusive collection just for the Nordstrom beauty girl—YOU! Here’s the first glimpse at the Telluride Glow Collection.

In May, we celebrate mothers, so this month’s must-haves are a mix of long-loved and just-discovered multipurpose marvels that make life easier for busy moms (like me) on the go.

Clarisonic ‘Opal – Ruby’ Sonic Infusion System: Amazing. After just one use, my eyes looked less puffy and felt more hydrated; within one week, they looked smoother, more refreshed and less crepey—all day! Even better, this wondergadget is quick (just 30 seconds on each eye) and very simple to use. Pair it with your favorite eye cream and/or serum and use it day and night for maximum results.

Chantecaille Ultra Sun Protection Sunscreen Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 50: I hit the jackpot with this product! Not only does it protect my skin with a broad spectrum SPF; it’s also a fantastic makeup primer. It creates the perfect non-greasy, smooth, even canvas for your foundation, with bonus anti-aging benefits built in. Brilliant.

Giorgio Armani ‘Luminous Silk’ Foundation: There’s a reason this product achieved immediate cult status and wins practically every beauty award. Just one pump is all you need for silky, smooth, weightless coverage that lasts all day. I am honestly blown away by how flawless and radiant it makes my face look, plus it’s oil-free—the perfect finish for my combination skin.

Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Color: I’m addicted to these new easy-to-wear lip shades that offer just the right wash of sheer color. Of the 14—yes, 14!—shades I’ve already acquired, my current #1 favorite is Passion Fruit, my power pink for summer. (Bonus: these beauties condition lips, too!)

L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil: I first tried this product because I couldn’t resist the delicious almond scent; now I can’t live without the way it makes my skin look. I spray it on right after my shower to lock in moisture and face the day with supple, radiant, glowing skin that smells like a dream.

These are just five of the many must-haves I’d love to tell you about (I’ll save some surprises for next month). In the meantime, if you’d like to start finding your own new favorites, you can set up an appointment with one of our Nordstrom beauty stylists (1.800.7beauty). Experts on all brands, they’ll be happy to make suggestions and give you samples of products that will work for you. Too busy to get to the store? No problem: you can chat with one of our online beauty stylists instead.

While on set with Bobbi Brown during our Beauty Trend Show video shoot, Laksmi Sam, one of our beauty directors, sat down with the woman behind the brand to ask a handful of your burning @NordstromBeauty Twitter questions.

If I’m new to Bobbi Brown makeup, where do I start?
Bobbi Brown: You can start with skincare, because great makeup starts with great skin—or with foundation. I have always been proud of the fact that we offer yellow-toned foundations for every skin tone that even out the skin flawlessly but still leave the skin looking radiant.

What’s the best way for a 20-something to take care of his or her skin?
Bobbi Brown: First, don’t smoke. Take your makeup off every night, or at least 95 percent of the time! Wear sunscreen and eat properly. If you have a cocktail, have a glass of water too. It’s all about balance.

What can we look forward to in your upcoming collections?
Bobbi Brown: Bold colors that are still extremely wearable. I never want to fall into a trend that you can’t wear every day. For spring, it’s about beautiful shades of lilac and rose-colored pinks. Summer is about nudes and bronze shades. I also love pink and red worn together, which is why I launched the Pink & Red Collection.

What’s the most common makeup mistake you see women make?
Bobbi Brown: A common beauty mistake is when a woman piles on foundation in the wrong shade to give herself an entirely new complexion. Foundation should be yellow-based, and the right one should make you look like you’re not wearing any at all.

Do you have any tips for creating a smoky eye look on a mature eye?
Bobbi Brown: It’s important to layer colors from light to dark—starting with soft grays and working up to black. Keep the most intense color on the eyelid. Don’t use colors with a heavy shimmer, and finish off with lots of black mascara, ideally four or five coats of a non-flaking formula that’s easy to layer.

What’s your favorite application technique?
Bobbi Brown: Nothing makes a woman look prettier than a pop of blush. My favorite technique is using two different shades to create a healthy, pretty look. I would first apply a shade that is the color of your cheeks when you are naturally flushed, followed by a pop of a brighter color on top. This layering technique offers natural brightness.

What’s the one item every woman should have in her makeup bag?
Bobbi Brown: Corrector and concealer. Combined, they’re the secret of the universe—they instantly lift and brighten, making you look like you’ve had eight hours of sleep when you’ve only had four.

When you’re not on the road working, how do you enjoy spending your time?
Bobbi Brown: On my days off, I like to spend time at home with my family and friends, and I love exercising. On the rare occasions when there’s no one else at home, I get in bed with the TV remote control and a stack of magazines.
