1. LANCER Microcurrent Power Boost Device (Nordstrom Exclusive)
A FIRST-OF-ITS KIND TOOL: Designed to optimize the skin’s electrical potential while gently massaging facial muscles and stimulating the deep layers of the skin, where collagen and new skin cells are produced.
How to Use: Glide over the contours of your face and neck. Each glide should be about 5 seconds long. Repeat 3 times in each area. For specific target areas, hold the device in a stationary position for 5 seconds. Treat the affected area for up to 10 minutes. Rinse after each use and dry with a cloth. Use daily or as needed.
PRO RESULTS/AT-HOME CONVENIENCE: Me is the only at-home hair-removal device to use patented elos technology, which is clinically proven and FDA-cleared to be safe and effective for all skin types.
How to Use: To prepare the skin for a me treatment, first you need to remove the hair from the surface of your skin by shaving or waxing. This will ensure that the elos energy is focused on the hair follicles beneath the surface for optimal efficacy.
THE 30-SECOND EYE LIFT: Opal helps infuse serum more effectively than manual application for younger-looking eyes. Just 30 seconds around each eye immediately firms, hydrates and refreshes skin.
How to Use: Following the rim of bone outlining the eye area, gently glide the applicator tip over the skin using small, overlapping circular motions. Do not use on the soft tissue under the eye or on the eyelids. The sonic infuser will automatically turn off after 30 seconds. Gently tap any remaining serum into the skin using your ring finger. Apply additional serum to the applicator tip and repeat on your other eye.

Five of our Beauty Stylists share their top tips for transitioning your makeup and beauty regimes from summer to fall.
Victoria Levy: Nordstrom Downtown Seattle, WA
Trade glossy coral lips for a rich, matte burgundy, and keep your light summer shadows intact. Bonus: Use a stippling brush to buff the same color on the apples of your cheeks for a monotone blush effect—like NARS Lipstick in Scarlet Empress and Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy in #510 Dolce.
Turn your favorite waterproof gel liner into the season’s simplest smokey eye. Use a bullet brush to smudge liner from the lash line up into the crease—with a windshield-wiping motion, diffuse the color out until you’ve created a soft, hazy effect over the entire lid. For added drama, build color under the eye and connect at the outer corner. I love the classic Bobbi Brown Gel Liner!
Iris Brostowicz: Nordstrom Michigan Avenue, IL
I recommend that customers exfoliate at least twice-weekly during seasonal transitions with Kate Somerville ExfoliKate — with 3 versions, there’s one for everyone! It helps to remove the excess cells that build up on the skin—specifically around the nose and brows, which makes foundation look thick or cakey when applied.
As we move toward winter, when the skin can look sallow, I suggest customers switch to a luminizing primer, like Laura Mercier Radiance Primer. The benefit is that the skin looks more radiant and bright under foundation, as if it is lit from within. The customer can also press it on the cheekbones for a pick-me-up look, whether midday or just before leaving the office. For a more purse-friendly option, use Smashbox Halo Highlighting Wand to add brightness.
Jennifer Kochenour: Nordstrom The Plaza at King of Prussia, PA
Brighten your complexion with a highlighter. One of my favorites is NARS Blush in Nico. It has a satin texture with just a touch of glow. I love to apply this with the Laura Mercier Cheek Brush to the highest points of the cheeks, the center of the forehead and the edge of the top lip to enhance the cupid’s bow. For a very fair complexion, Nico may also be used as a brightener applied all over using a NARS Yachiyo #27 Kabuki Brush.
Sarah Zaret: Nordstrom Mission Viejo, CA
Transitioning your makeup wardrobe from summer to fall is pretty easy. Make sure to have a good bronzer on hand, but one that still matches your décolleté area. Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder is amazing, and helps to color-correct as well as maintain your faux glow.
Picking out a new lipstick that you can incorporate into your summer makeup is an easy way to transition your look into fall, and it will keep you looking on trend. I recommend trying the new Bordeaux lip. NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Palais Royal is one of my favorites—it’s a pencil and lipstick all in one, that feels great and is easy to use!
Paploua Xiong: Nordstrom The Mall of Georgia, GA
Use your tinted moisturizer and mix it in with heavier fall foundation to create more coverage. I love taking CHANEL Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid and blending it with other foundations to create a more airbrushed look.
For lips, I like using my summer pinks, but adding a darker liner to create that deep bordeaux lip for fall and give more dimension.

Introducing our new Beauty Trend Editor Kate Fannin, a petite, pixie-coiffed cosmetics connoisseur whose passion for product is the size of Texas (her home state).
A self-described girly-girl from the get-go, Kate started her beauty career at age 9, when she’d line up her Barbies and sell them Clinique (or “Clini-Q” as she called it) from her mom’s Spiegel catalog.
The higher the hair, the closer to heaven: a teenage Kate shows her sweet Texas style
Denim to Dolce. During high school, Kate’s love of shopping earned her the nickname “Mall-y.” In college, she chose to major in Marketing when she realized its connection to shopping, products and the customer experiences that were part of her consumer-driven DNA. Two business degrees later, Kate went on to work for a number of major retail brands, including The Limited, The Gap, The Body Shop and Neiman Marcus, where she was indoctrinated into the world of luxury cosmetics and never looked back.

Kate expectations. Now at Nordstrom, Kate’s all about taking the trends and translating them for customers of all ages, complexions and comfort zones. “Beauty should never be a chore—it should be a pleasure,” says Kate. “It’s such a fun opportunity to play, with such a low commitment! To me, makeup is an art form that doesn’t require perfection, although making changes to a beauty routine can be intimidating to many women. That’s why I like to ask customers when they feel most beautiful, and talk about out how we can make the trends work for them.”
Kate and makeup maven Trish McEvoy have a cheeky Instagram moment
Makeup mixology. “I change my makeup every single day—I love experimenting with color. My one constant is making sure I ‘glow’ so I’ll mix a little bronzer, maybe a little pink with a shimmer base, and then add a pop of color on either my eyes or my lips.”
Skincare saviors. “Sunscreen. It’s my absolute must-have—without it don’t even bother with the rest! I use Fresh Soy Face Cleanser because it really gets the sunscreen off at the end of the day—and I never go to bed without a completely clean face!”
Pretty ladies: Kate connects with Brooke Shields at the Women’s Wear Daily Beauty Summit
Fragrance faves. “Dior J’Adore is my longtime love. I’m a floral girl at heart; but it has to be a light, airy floral that lifts me up. Heavy scents make me feel shorter!”
Hair play. “I own every type of hair care product: texturizers, beach sprays, pomades, gels, mousse. Sometimes I create ‘cocktails’ of different products to get certain looks. One of my favorite lines is Aveda because they have great products for short hair.”
Beauty muses. “I love how Gwen Stefani approaches makeup; she’s very bold and adventurous. Adele has great style, too—she just owns it with her cat eyes and nail art. Charlize Theron is probably my favorite because she always glows, and she rocks so many different hairstyles.”
Glam go-tos. “Kevin Aucoin ‘The’ Lip Gloss (Pasiflora is a great rosy shade); NARS ‘Larger Than Life’ Eyeliners (Barrow Street is a gorgeous neon green I’m loving right now); Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20; and Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer. CAUDALÍE Divine Oil is a new find: it smells heavenly and absorbs quickly, so you can use it on your body and hair.”
Favorite things: A few of Kate’s current and classic picks
Beauty mantra. “Explore. Have fun. It can be as simple as a new lip gloss or as unique as custom nail art. There are no hard-and-fast beauty rules; it’s all about what makes YOU feel confident and beautiful. I just turned 40, but if I see a hot pink lipstick that makes me happy, I’ll wear it!”
Since my recent re-lo to Seattle, I’ve discovered there’s no need to get away during the summer. With the sun finally shining on nearby mountains, lakes, beaches, waterfalls and brilliantly blooming backyards, a Northwest staycation hands-down beats the hassles of long-distance travel. And while I love getting back to nature, I do have my limits with going au natural; luckily, I’ve found the perfect, portable beauty companions for each of my favorite staycation destinations.
Boating on Lake Washington. When you’re jumping in and out of the water, you need makeup that’s waterproof and towel-proof, like stila lip crush lip & cheek stain. This amazing product reacts with the pH levels of your skin to create a perfectly natural and unique pop of color that stays put, and the brush on the pen makes application a breeze. My favorite water-sporting color: Pomegranate Crush.
Camping near Mt. Rainier. My husband always challenges me to get everything I need into one backpack, so multipurpose items are a must. The answer to all of my skin needs (healthy, protected, natural-looking) comes neatly packaged in one tube of Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 35. This wilderness wonder product covers and smoothes imperfections, provides an anti-aging serum and protects with a higher SPF. The silky formula is a treat when I’m roughing it.
Hiking on the Olympic Peninsula. When you finally reach the summit or waterfall, it’s nice to look (and feel) fresh for a picnic and your Instagram-worthy pictures. To keep sweat at bay, I always carry a few packets of DERMAdoctor MED e TATE Hyperhidrosis Control Wipes. Specially medicated for extra sweating, this handy product can still be used on your face, underarms and even your feet, and helps you stay drier on any trek.
A day at Alki Beach. Sunscreen is a no-brainer, but I also like to keep my hair from looking like it’s been through a hurricane. Salt water is so drying, and the breezes from Puget Sound can whip tresses into a frizzy tangle—unless you come prepared with a leave-in conditioner in your beach bag. My favorite: B. the Product Leave It In Conditioner. This lifesaver doesn’t weigh down even fine, thin hair like mine, and the spray pump helps the product reach your head instead of blowing in the wind. It’s great for kids’ hair too, and makes comb-out time much less painful.
Spa time at home. Why deal with traffic when you can simply lie back in the tub with a good book, a glass of Washington wine and some Aveda Stress-fix Soaking Salts? With lavender and sage essences infusing mineral-rich salt and sugar, this total-body indulgence is my go-to remedy for relaxing and unwinding—especially after days spent hiking, camping, boating and playing on the beach. (Sometimes I need a staycation after my staycation…)
I hope wherever you live, you’ll take some summer staycation days of your own. A little downtime is one of the best beauty treatments out there!
