In the short Q&As below, get to know seven denim brands our buying team is excited to be working with: 3×1 NYC, Baldwin, FRAME, J Brand, Jean Shop, PAIGE and Raleigh. Most have a little stretch built into them (helps with things like car keys). All are strong and sturdy-looking while being butter soft.

What are three words you’d use to describe your jeans?

Timeless, sophisticated, iconic.

What was your design inspiration for the specific styles in our spring buy?

Our design inspirations are always rooted in history, more specifically denim’s storied past, but we try to reflect the sensibility of today’s customer in every pair we make. Black Tear [above, left] is a great example: they feature a torn hem with high-performance stretch denim in a classic 5-pocket silhouette. Perfect for the modern guy looking for something stylish and current, but utilizing technology that didn’t exist four years ago. Langley [above, right] is another great example of a gorgeous vintage wash, updated in our xx754 denim. Great fitting, with tons of authentic character. Ideal for today’s guy who wants comfort and performance.

One thing about the perfect pair of jeans is: They’ll make you feel more confident in everything you do.

Jean Shop founder Eric Goldstein

What are three words you’d use to describe your jeans?

Classic American style.

What was your design inspiration for the specific styles in our spring buy?

Simply vintage. Most of our inspiration comes from vintage garments. We have a policy in our SoHo store: if you start a pair of raw jeans and wear them till they are beautiful we will trade them in for a new pair. We then use these beautiful jeans as our inspiration for new washes. They’re then hung on our wall of fame for all to see.

One thing about the perfect pair of jeans is: If they could talk, they would tell some great stories.

Raleigh Denim co-founder and designer Victor Lytvinenko

What are three words you’d use to describe your jeans?

Handcrafted, honest, refined.

What was your design inspiration for the specific styles in our spring buy?

These styles have been developed over the past 10 years of pattern work with our 83-year-old pattern maker Christel Ellsberg, fabrics we’ve been developing with Cone Mills, the 110-year-old mill in Greensboro, North Carolina, and handcrafted in our proprietary downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, workshop and signed by the maker. We are making timeless pieces of the highest quality, with a little stretch for comfort. The Jones Resin is a slim straight fit with a tonal stitch giving it an elevated look and silhouette.

One thing about the perfect pair of jeans is: They make you feel badass in them. Can we say that? If not, let me know and I’ll give you something else! Ha!
