A Model Moment with Jeneil Williams at NYFW

Jamaica-born model Jeneil Williams has graced the pages of our catalogs, both print and online. Her mesmerizing looks and statuesque beauty first caught the attention of the fashion pack when she was photographed for the September 2009 issue of Teen Vogue. Since then, Jeneil been blazing trails both in front of the camera and on the runway. Currently, she can be seen in the ad campaigns for Jean Paul Gaultier and Jimmy Choo.

We asked Jeneil to give us a glimpse into her life during New York Fashion Week. Here’s her first post!

10AM: I have ten castings today, so it’s been a very busy morning. I’m very lucky that my boyfriend can take me to all of my appointments during Fashion Week! He understands how cold, busy and exhausting this time of year can be for me because everything is scattered around the city. It’s great to have someone so supportive of my career.

11:30AM: Checking into casting, so I hand over my portfolio and comp card. Models always have to line up and wait for our time to be seen, but I don’t really mind the waiting; it’s part of the job, but also provides a great opportunity to catch up with friends. When I have a break, I also like to browse my favorite blogs, and one worth mentioning is Tomboy Brooklyn. Even though the best part of this job is getting dressed up, I’m still such a tomboy.

11:55AM: Getting instructions on the type of walk the casting directors would like to see. Most designers also want to see girls come in with a clear and clean face, which means no makeup, and hair pulled back. My skin and hair routine keeps me ready for anything. I use a scrub a few times a week, and I’m obsessed with natural skin ingredients like cocoa butter, vitamin E oil and avocado. For my hair, I use jasmine and coconut oil; they smell so good.

12:15AM: Once the walking is over (definitely the quickest thing about this entire process), I change into a look and get my picture taken. These photos are then given to the casting directors to aid them in their final selection process. Can you say cheese please?

1:00: I have another appointment in the Meatpacking District, which gives me the chance to grab lunch; whoever said models don’t eat didn’t meet me! I love food, and I love to cook everything: Italian, French, Mexican… Did I mention I also really love seafood? And Jamaica has some of the best!

1:35: And time to run to my next appointment! Fashion Week starts tomorrow, so check back for my next blog post from the runway!”
