Alexander Wang’s Downtown Warriors
Prepare for battle. For Alexander Wang‘s last season before starting his post at Balenciaga, he created a tough collection of thick, draped knits, sliced leather and slouchy silhouettes. Everything was sculptural, oversized and, for the most part, gray. Wearing fuzzy boxing gloves and fitted hoods with slits in the back for long swaths of ruby hair, the models resembled warriors storming the barracks of lower Manhattan. And from the looks of these clothes, they came to conquer.
