Italian jewelry designer Alberto Luzzi proves he’s a master of style with his distinctively original metal mesh collection, Adami & Martucci. Handcrafted from precious metals by artisans from Italy and the island of Bali, these wearable pieces of art are set in sterling silver and plated in rhodium or 24k and 18k gold. Luzzi chats with The Thread about his collection, making the launch to Nordstrom.com, his European design sensibility and what makes his jewels so on-trend.
“We are thrilled to partner with Nordstrom and offer our innovative silver mesh jewelry to one of America’s finest department stores. We have created a fabulous line of chic sterling-silver jewelry that is great for every day with a luxurious look. Our jewelry blends new ideas with unmistakable Italian flavor,” says Luzzi, who founded his label in 2007 and is based out of Rome. “When you wear any of my designs, it captures the magic of light that so captivates me.” These delicate statement-making pieces brilliantly bounce light, allowing the gold and silver settings to morph into blue or red hues, depending on the sunlight being reflected.
What really sets this innovative collection apart is its versatility. Many of the necklaces can be worn in three to four different ways, so a woman will never get bored donning these one-of-a-kind baubles. Luzzi’s design signature has certainly been influenced by his European sensibility. “Europe, especially Italy, has always been on the cutting edge of art and fashion. Growing up in Rome, this culture was all around me and shaped me at an early age,” he says. “Italians have always been known for their attitude in expression. Fashion and art is our passion.”
If there’s one thing Luzzi hopes his designs manifest, it’s the feeling of being light yet bold. When asked what keeps his collection on-trend, he says: “Our mesh collection is chic and sexy, but captures a classy elegance at the same time. The result is a feeling of ‘jewelry lingerie’—in the classic, beautiful styles of Gina Lollobrigida, Sophia Loren and Marilyn Monroe.”
