Our yearly Anniversary Sale is officially on! In case you haven’t heard about it: we like to do our annual sale a little differently. Every July, to celebrate another year of being able to serve our customers, we bring in the next season’s most covetable pieces and essentials—from Designer Collections to beauty products—and mark them down. Yes, that means new items on sale.

If it sounds a little backward, that’s because it kind of is. But hey, it’s a celebration! Join us both in store and online now, before prices go up on August 4. To give you a head start, here are some of our favorite trends, must-haves and essentials to watch out for while you’re getting your #NSale shop on.

Placed Lace: Dark neutrals and unexpected items show off their softer sides with lacy details and embellishments.

Boots & Booties: From Western-inspired to peep-toe, your new favorite pair is waiting to call your closet home.

Uptown Brown: Combine rich shades of brown to add depth to fall textures. Mix different tones—or pair one item with something black—for unexpected intrigue.

Cashmere: Embellished, striped or solid, a little something cashmere is always a sweet treat.

Handbags: Who was it who said, “A woman can never have too many handbags”? Oh. We just did.

Everything Leather: On skirts, tops, dresses, pants—no one can stop the leather trend. But when it makes everything look so fresh and edgy, why would you want to?

Intimates: Bras, panties and lingerie—don’t forget the everyday essentials.

Moto Rising: Elements from the rebel biker jacket get deconstructed and are showing up on anything and everything. We’re not complaining.

We adore Pantone’s choice for its 2014 Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid. This pinkish purple is powerful, pretty and perfectly wearable. Incorporate this vibrant floral into any outfit for a dash of instant brilliance.

Trend Note: Blue and Tan

Okay. So it may not get a lot of points for being revolutionary, but we’re still spreading the word about how much we love this understated color duo right now. With the mixed prints and bold graphics that have been our style go-tos lately, a simple, pared-down blue-and-tan combo feels beautifully minimalistic—and so very wearable.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to incorporate this look into your wardrobe now (by layering on accessories) and for when the polar vortex gives way to warmer temps (via skirts and sandals—yes!).

We asked four of our Personal Stylists to talk about their favorite trends for spring and what it’s like to be a stylist. No surprise, these ladies know their stuff! If you’ve never booked a complimentary appointment with one of our stylists, read on and get inspired. We consider them to be your secret weapon to a wicked wardrobe.

Kiffa, Roosevelt Field, New York

“My style inspiration comes from many places: museums, vintage magazines and a few favorite celebrities, of course.”

Kiffa is an intuitive stylist who revels in the unexpected. She especially loves when a customer comes back into the store and tells her how much they love what she picked out. “It makes me feel like I’m changing their lives!” One thing is for sure: change your accessories and change your mood.

Kiffa’s favorite way to play up an outfit with Accessories.

  1. Chic
  2. Femme
  3. Preppy
  4. Eclectic

Melissa, Horton Plaza, San Diego

“I have to really understand not just what’s happening in fashion, but how it relates to my customers and their lives, and how they want to present themselves to the world.”

Melissa’s styling philosophy: “The better you know someone, the easier it is to get it right.” For her, it goes beyond just creating new looks, but creating relationships, as well. Of course, she also loves working with all of the beautiful clothes.

Melissa’s list of key spring trends.

  1. Soft tailored suit
  2. The skater skirt
  3. Gilet jacket
  4. Fit-and-flare dress
  5. Black lace
  6. Mirrored floral prints
  7. Anything white
  8. Summer leather

Nicole, Scottsdale Fashion Square

“It has to be you. It has to feel good.”

“Making magic happen!” That’s what Nicole says is the best thing about her job. As a Nordstrom Personal Stylist, she also loves that she can shop the whole store, letting her creativity run free to create exciting and unexpected combinations for her customers. Speaking of unexpected, take the pictured lace dress, for example. “Why not think of the dress differently—layered over or under for a new look every day.”

Nicole’s recommendations for most versatile pieces.

  1. Lace dress
  2. Black and white prints
  3. Cropped pants
  4. Collared shirt
  5. Pencil skirt
  6. Print jacket

Deanna, The Grove, Los Angeles

“I love, love, love fashion…but it’s important to feel comfortable about what you’re wearing.”

The most gratifying moment for many stylists is when they get a customer to step outside of their comfort zone and try something new. This is especially true for shoes, which can really be a style game changer. A customer will say, ‘I would never have picked this out for myself,’ yet they leave the store happy, looking and feeling great.”

Deanna’s spring picks for shoes:

  1. Easy slip-ons
  2. Sporty shoes & soles
  3. Jellies
  4. New craft details
  5. Studs
  6. White accents
  7. Block heels
  8. Pointy-toes

Amy Squires and Jocey Canrinus (a.k.a the ladies behind the DIY and inspiration blog Wedding Chicks) are taking over The Thread and our Wedding Suite Blog for a day to share their quirky-glam style. What can we say? We can hardly ever refuse a peek inside a great closet.

Although we love the same look–jeans and cute tops—we tend to steer toward completely different looks. Amy loves a more classic tailored look – think Cameron Diaz. Her definite staples are J Brand, Joie, and Frye. It’s a given if you run into Amy, she’s most likely going to be in skinnies and boots.

1.  MARC BY MARC JACOBS Bag 2.  Laura Mercier Eyelash Curler 3. Kiehl’s Lip Balm 4. Joie V-neck Top 5. MICHAEL KORS Watch 6. Roberto Coin Earrings 7. Frye Zip Boot 8. Velvet by Graham Spencer Dress 9. kate spade new york Pump 10. kate spade new york iPhone Case 11. MARC BY MARC JACOBS Clutch 12. Lana Jewelry Necklace 13. Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss 14. Yigal Azrouël Jacket 15. Kelly Wearstler Cuff

1. Rebecca Minkoff Satchel 2. Topshop Jacket 3. Marco Bicego Ring 4. Free People Sweater 5. Aveda Body Lotion 6. Frye Tab Boot 7. Essie Nail Polish 8. Estée Lauder Mascara 9. Saint Laurent Nail Lacquer 10. Classiques Entier Pump 11. MICHAEL MICHAEL KORS Clutch 12. Free people Lace Dress 13. Lana Jewelry Earrings 14. Topshop Leather Jacket

Jocey drifts toward anything boho chic, adores anything Rachel Zoe, Parker or her favorite Free People. If you spot Jocey, she’ll most likely be in a flowy top, a great pair of Hudson boot cuts and fierce wedges (likely with a wooden sole!)

Top both of our looks off with gold hoop earrings, a chunky watch and an over-sized bag from Rebecca Minkoff or Marc Jacobs and we are all set. We also have to mention a few of our beauty staples: Amy loves her Laura Mercier eye-lash curler, and always has a great lip balm in her pocket. Jocey swears by Este Lauder ‘more than mascara’, a beauty secret passed down from her Mom.
