Street Style

Spring style

Style is mostly about how you wear something, not what you wear. This spring, after examining our packed closets, we turned to Nordstrom Styling Director Ruth Basloe for tips on how to make the most of what we’ve got. Ruth gave us 10 ways to wear things we already own, incorporating small updates to look fresh this season. So here’s how we’ll be wearing everything—along with some street-style inspo and shopping links (in case you feel inclined to buy)!

As a designer, Rebecca Minkoff is known for artfully mixing bohemian romance with downtown rock-and-roll. At her recent spring show at The Grove in Los Angeles, Minkoff’s perspective emanated in a profusion of gauzy blouses and watercolor-inspired botanical prints that breathed fresh life into studded black leather and safety-pin earrings.

The show gave the impression that women can combine whatever they like, mixing and matching as they choose. And just as women can determine their own personal style, they can also craft their own path in life.

Who What Wear, Nordstrom App

Lauren Eggertsen is an Associate Editor at Who What Wear. As a huge fan of trending items, under-the-radar-brands and timeless basics, innovative shopping apps are a must in her busy life. Find out how the Nordstrom app changed the way she shops for the better.

Think back to a time when you were flipping through a magazine, Instagram or street-style blog and you came across an image of a product you absolutely could not live without. Just as you got giddy at the thought of you wearing said item, you quickly realized that you had no idea where to look to even begin to hunt it down. Well, Nordstrom has just come up with a solution for those relatable and torturous moments with a new scanning feature on their shopping app. All you have to do is take a photo of the thing you like, upload it to the app and Nordstrom will scan the image to curate a stylish selection of products that are either exact matches (which happened to me!) or extremely similar, at all price ranges.

After just testing it for the first time, I can assure you that as someone who curates a strong selection of product for consumers all day long for a living, this app is top-notch and has changed the way I shop forever. The ease and efficiency of the feature are unparalleled and if you are as into inspiration pictures and celebrity style as much as I am, this app will quickly become your new best friend.

As Paris Fashion Week comes to a close, we’re reflecting on our favorite street-style looks and getting better acquainted with the ladies who wore them—by creeping around on their Insta accounts. (You’re like a friend from afar if you follow!) Because not everyone can accessorize with an umbrella, puddle jump in stilettos and layer three shirts, we love the women who try and succeed. Bien fait!

Treasure & Bond Leather Jacket

In honor of International Women’s Day, we want to take this time to highlight the incredible Nordstrom brand Treasure&Bond. As one of the many ways the company supports nonprofits throughout the year, Nordstrom donates 2.5% of its net sales to organizations that empower youth. This means that whenever you purchase an item from this beloved label−whether it be on-trend denim, stylish hoodies or go-to ankle boots−you’re doing good. And that’s something we can definitely get behind here at Who What Wear HQ.

From February 1, 2017, to January 31, 2018, Treasure&Bond will support YWCA in both the U.S. and Canada. In the U.S. specifically, funds will go toward the organization’s TechGYRLS initiative, a program that empowers girls in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Previous beneficiaries of Treasure&Bond donations include Girls Inc., another notable leader in female empowerment that Nordstrom continues to support in various cities across America.

In our opinion, there’s no better way to celebrate this important day than by giving girls the opportunities they deserve. If that means purchasing some of the incredible products from Treasure&Bond, consider it a bonus.
