Whether you associate it with the U.K.’s top emerging designers or Bridget Bardot’s pink wedding dress, there’s every chance that gingham is going to be all over the place come spring ’17. And the ones you’ll see from Toga are anything but old-fashioned.

In no particular order, our six favorite examples of designer Yasuko Furuta doing checks.

Of course, there was more to the show than that one fabrication. In the program notes Yasuko’s team outlined a sort of liquid chaos—“puddle motifs and wet pockets,” the poem-like lines read. “Light-reflecting surface and wet texture, loose and binding.”

The heading above all these said simply, “Flux, temperance, release.”
