Yesterday kicked off the 11th annual Art Basel Miami, where galleries from around the world showcase modern and contemporary art—from both established and emerging artists–that runs the gamut from sculpture to paintings to films and everything in between. For the fashion world, Art Basel is sort of like a delicious sorbet in between the main courses of September and February fashion months. In fact, our own senior blog editor, Qianna Smith, is there right now, soaking up the rays and taking in all the art, fashion and fun that Miami has to offer. And also parties. Lots and lots of parties.
When we scanned the exhaustive list of must-attend musical events, a lot caught our eye: Boy George (in his first U.S. performance in 10 years!) at Mana Wynwood, live rock & roll karaoke at the Standard and a private Kendrick Lamar performance at MOCA. But the one we wished we’d gotten an invite to was the VH1 party featuring Canadian indie-pop duo—and twin sisters—Tegan & Sara. We can’t think of a better soundtrack for dancing ’til dawn on Miami Beach.
