Nicholas Kirkwood: BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund Winner

Since launching his eponymous collection in 2005, Nicholas Kirkwood has stood in a league of his own when it comes to innovative footwear. The British Fashion Council (BFC) announced today that Kirkwood has been chosen as the winner of the 2013 BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund award. This coveted prize, with nominees including Roksanda Ilincic, Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto and Emilia Wickstead, aids top U.K. emerging design houses with their business development and growth strategy. Kirkwood will be awarded £200,000 and an 18-month mentorship program tailored to help him achieve his goals.

According to the BFC announcement, “The choice to award Nicholas was based on his and business partner Christopher Suarez’s extremely professional 3 year plan and presentation at interview. Nicholas has demonstrated exceptional skill in building a modern, individual and recognizable accessories line.”

Nicholas’s more famous fans—Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Biel and Kerry Washington, among others—may also agree!

Congrats, Nicholas!
