Retro Rules at Alice + Olivia
Many designers borrow from the past, but few do it with as much historical accuracy as Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet. And yet, she always injects the perfect amount of modern flavor, selecting just the right silhouettes and prints to appeal to today’s vintage-loving girl. Bendet’s spring/summer 2013 collection focuses on the full skirts, boxy jackets and nipped waists of the late ’50s, with mid-century décor to boot. It’s hard to feel like anything but a lady in these pieces, and that’s exactly how Bendet likes it.
Here’s the designer herself, in a flirty little number. It’s clear by the way Bendet dresses that Alice + Olivia isn’t just her job — it’s also her wardrobe.
The packed presentation included some familiar faces. Here’s actress Odette Annable of House M.D.:

This was probably the most fun Fashion Week party I’ve been to yet. Bendet really knows how to entertain. Did I mention the ice-cream cart near the bar? And the cake-pops? Yep. Seals the deal in my book.
I’ll be back tomorrow with more coverage! Is it just me or is this week completely flying by?
