Observe what happens when snake print and leopard print go to Technicolor battle on this wild platform pump. There’s just no taming such ferocious beauty.
Prints are sizzling hot in the fashion world right now. Of all the creative ways to wear them, we can’t get enough of what they’re doing for pants and denim. Check out our editor’s favorite prints for your lower half and how to wear them all—from polka dots and flirty flowers to artistic blurs and animal spots.
Rocking the printed pants trend is far simpler than it looks. Consider these tips when planning your look, and get ready to turn some heads.
Your first pair. Go for slim-fit and cropped—the easiest and most modern style. Consider picking up a pair of floral-print skinny jeans—a must-have for spring and a great introduction to printed pants.
Height is key. Pair printed bottoms with heels or wedges. Choose flats with caution to avoid the risk of looking like you’re wearing pajamas.
Manage your proportions. Wear looser-fitting tops over printed bottoms—when combined with a cropped hem, this balances the amount of print in proportion to the rest of your outfit.
Day to night. For work, slip on a crochet top or tuck in a silky blouse—a sharp blazer is a great finishing touch. After hours, throw on a slouchy t-shirt and leather jacket for a rocker vibe.
Dare to pair. Don’t be afraid to mix printed bottoms with printed tops and accessories. Just keep them in a similar color palette, and you’re good to go.

You already know that fall is full of exotic animal prints, from leopard to python and everything in between. For a quirky-cool twist on the fauna-inspired trend, we suggest trying graphic animal prints—nudging the trend just a little further without venturing into “cat sweater” territory.
Take animal print to new graphic heights with a panther-print dress, handbag or scarf from MARC BY MARC JACOBS. The repeating rows of skulking cats—or the friendlier felines sauntering across a Lanvin Cat & Logo Silk Dress—are an eye-catching departure from the usual stripes, florals or polka dots.
For a more subtle approach, try this Helmut Lang top—the single, extended wing is ethereal and modern, a fitting accompaniment to Lang’s minimalist style.
We’re also loving the horses galloping across scarves from Hinge and Trouvé, and at the top of the fashion food chain is a wolf-print cardigan from 3.1 Phillip Lim. The semi-snarling print on the front of this cashmere-blend cropped cardi is a sure-fire conversation starter.
Give your closet a promotion this fall. Incorporate one or all of our favorite office-ready trends into your 9-to-5 looks for effortless style that works as hard as you do.

5 – Color-Blocking DIY Separates or Done for You. Simple silhouettes and lines paired with two or more saturated, contrasting colors take that pop up a notch to something that’s bold and beautiful. [Pictured: Pour la Victoire ‘Marlow – Large’ Tote]
7 – Animal Prints. They’re showing up on everything this fall. Incorporate a little or a lot in your tops, bottoms and accessories—or with the season’s hot stacked heel—to show everyone you’re not afraid to walk on the wild side. [Pictured: Sam Edelman ‘Lyla’ Pump]
Apart from all the excitement of the runway shows, there’s one other thing that gets our hearts racing at Fashion Week: the shoes! Crystal, our NYFW style spotter, kept an eye to the ground for all of us shoe addicts out there and reported back on the nine showstopping trends that she saw all over NYC streets.
1 – Animal Print. Not just for shoes—this is showing up on everything—but a great animal-print pump reigns king of the closet in our book.
2 – Blocked Heels. Chunky. A little retro. Perfectly grounded. Call it what you like, this heel is perfect for balancing cuffed jeans and a chunky knit sweater. Or skew a little ’70s with wide-leg pants or a midi-length dress.
3 – Casual Lace-ups. There’s just something about leather and laces that adds a hiking or Victorian vibe to boots or a little flirty flare to oxford pumps and platform booties.
4 – Pointed Toes. The perfect way to add a subtle note of drama and elevate a more minimal look.
6 – Menswear Inspired. Details like tassels, kiltie fringe and brogueing add a witty touch to a feminine silhouette.
9 – Color Blocking. Either a bold color or mix of colors in the shoe, a controlled clash remains hot through the season.
Sydne’s back! And, once again, she’s working the up-to-the-minute trends. Her bright-orange pencil skirt perfectly complements her sheer animal-print blouse, and I love her skinny leopard belt.
Sydne says that color is an important element to her style—especially during the gloomy winter months. Of course, we had to have another photo shoot for her blog before parting!
