The Thread spent a day out in the city with a handful of our friends from the t.b.d. Department’s buying team. We came with a camera, and they came with their favorite piece for fall and beyond—not to mention enough style to stop a train. Here’s how five fashion-savvy ladies create unique, personalized looks by incorporating different wardrobe essentials that are modern, mixable and full of classic cool.
Last (and anywhere but least) in our series, Jillian knocks put-together casual right out of the park. Her minimalist look has maximum appeal with an easy button-up, grand-slam accessories and neutral colors punctuated by a punchy plaid.
What I Do: I’m a national assistant buyer in t.b.d. for Collection. I love all the excitement that goes on behind the scenes when selecting the buy for future seasons. It is rewarding to see the product come to life on the floor and our website, but the cherry on top is when you see a customer wearing it.
My Style: I’d say it’s mostly laid-back and simple, but I love taking a risk and trying new trends as long as they feel relevant to my lifestyle. Regardless of what I’m wearing, I always remember confidence is key when it comes to style!
My Essential: There isn’t a single thing I don’t like about a button-up, and if it’s plaid, then it’s that much better! This piece can be styled in endless ways and look chic, edgy, cool and effortless all at the same time. If I’m not dressing it down with jeans and heels, I’ll dress it up by tucking the front into a leather mini and throwing on some booties.
