Last week we took you inside Prabal Gurung’s New York showroom—this week we’re heading less than a mile away to Helmut Lang‘s light-filled headquarters, where our via C buyer, Cheri Dublinski, examines the spring collection.
“I really liked the clean, straight lines of the new collection,” Cheri says. “These pieces are simple and easy to wear, and they’re made with interesting details or fabrics.”
Cheri snaps fit models wearing various pieces from the new collection. This helps her keep track of the garments she’s thinking about buying.
As we saw on the runway, creative directors Nicole and Michael Colovos used lots of perforation and leather for spring.
Silhouettes were loose and relaxed.
“There’s something for everyone in this collection,” Cheri says.
Stay tuned for more updates from the showrooms as our buyers make their spring selections.
In the meantime, check out our runway photos and front-row photos from Helmut Lang’s spring 2014 show.
Who’s up for rollerskating? Add wheels to the the models’ feet at MARC BY MARC JACOBS’ show yesterday, and they’d be straight out of a Saturday night bowl & skate in 1995. Sparkles, stars, satin and sneakers were the key components on the MMJ runway, a fun, youthful look refreshing in its simplicity. The girls wore scarves around their necks, trapping their long, languid tresses into disheveled coifs, revealing a little of the grungy Marc Jacobs we know and love. Something tells us he’d kill it on the roller-rink.
Shoppers are frequently flabbergasted over how far ahead the fashion world plans: “Shorts for sale in February??” But when it comes to Fashion Week, looking at fall collections in the dead of winter feels pretty good. It’s all sweaters, coats and boots—just what the doctor ordered. Last night, Elizabeth and James brought the cozy and then some with its fall/winter 2013 presentation on the rooftop of the Hôtel Americano. Unveiled in tandem with the brand’s handbag launch, the collection featured plush pullovers made of feather yarn, faux shearling coats and the world’s cutest oversized polka-dot sweater. At this rate, winter can stay all year.
