Elena was calling her driver to take her to the next show, but I couldn’t resist taking a quick snap anyway. Logo tops are everywhere right now, and this J.W. Anderson sweater is too good not to share. Black and white continues to dominate the Fashion Week world, and Elena’s look has well-balanced contrast. Her pleated mini and duster coat are interesting new trends—I can’t wait to experiment with these myself! And two of my favorite things—slip-on sneakers and mirrored sunnies—remain staples of the style scene. Thank goodness!
Yet another killer casual look from Fashion Week, and this time, it’s London style! Grey and navy are proving to be very popular in London—as well as worldwide. Jillian’s separates are loose and relaxed, and the mock-neck sweater is a strong trend for fall, especially in easy-to-wear neutrals. I love how Jillian added a little color and sporty flair to her relaxed look with those bold and bright adidas shoes.
Blogger extraordinaire, Garance Doré, has that special je ne sais quoi quality that makes French women so effortlessly chic. Despite her fashion world celebrity, Garance is so sweet and calm. This tranquility is represented in her style, which is understated and yet unique.
Garance’s gold miniskirt garnered a ton of attention this morning, and I love how she’s toned it down with a loose cashmere sweater. We love you, Garance!
Ady’s silk button-up dress was one of the more photographed looks of the day, due to its gorgeous movement in the New York breeze. Her skinny belt cinches the voluminous cut and adds some definition. Ady’s outfit is a chic, feminine take on classic menswear styling, which is a personal favorite of mine. Fashion Week is so full of inspiration, but a flowing shirtdress is definitely at the top of my must-have list.
Denim is wildly popular here in London, and I love Veronica’s loose, cropped jeans. Nothing can top the insouciant look of denim with heels this season. Her camel zip-up pairs perfectly with her baby-blue jumper to create a grown-up prep look. Plus, a designer bag always adds a posh pop to any look!
You’ve probably already heard the most popular French electronic bands and not even realized it—not only do they usually sing in accent-free English, they’ll sometimes employ others to sing over their booty-shaking beats.
Air and Daft Punk are just a couple of high-profile examples, the latter most recently collaborating with musician and producer extraordinaire Pharrell Williams (and legendary guitarist Nile Rodgers!) for some tracks on Random Access Memories.
Ink proves that color is here to stay. In a sea of black and white, Ink’s vibrant combination was a standout. She’s incorporating a lot of up-to-the-minute trends into her outfit: the moto, the sweatshirt, neoprene and metallics. Somehow, all these disparate themes meld perfectly together into a fun, youthful look.
We spotted Denise immediately due to her insanely fabulous Azzedine Alaïa shoes. Not surprisingly, she’s one of our buyers in Salon Shoes (read more on Denise in our House Call feature).
Denise is artfully rocking this season’s moto jacket-over-a-dress look as well as successfully working graphic color blocking and architectural footwear into the mix—all without looking costumey or overly done.
Denise said she buys what inspires her and has learned to take more fashion risks as she’s grown older. “I’m always looking for pieces that I don’t have within the fashion spectrum,” she says. “Shoes are the best platform for building your outfit from the ground up (no pun intended)—I have definitely embraced the ‘everywhere is a runway’ philosophy with my footwear!”
