These two gorgeous girls are hard at work promoting their jewelry line at NYFW. The rich, earthy luxury of their wooden and stone pieces drew me in, almost as much as their saturated prints. Although they were rushing off to set up for their Coach party for Fashion’s Night Out, Sophie and Geri had time to take in the BCBG show.
Get the most out of the black blazer you have hanging up in that closet—it’s a secret weapon of versatility that can be layered onto almost anything. Check out these 5 looks Sole Society put together with pieces from Nordstrom, and get inspired!
Speaking of inspiration, we’re loving these four trends from the video. They’re totally right for fall.
Patterned pants. Speaking of prints, they’re still all over pants this fall (Rachel Zoe pictured) and looking best when just a little quirky and boldly mixed with other patterns.
Contrast collars. Add a little unexpected flare to that button-down with contrasting collars, plackets and cuffs. The snake-print trim on that Equipment shirt definitely has our attention.
Graphic skirts. An overarching trend on everything from handbags to dresses, but bold graphics on skirts is an eye-catching way (and flattering—see that Jason Wu contrasting panel number) to update a wardrobe staple.
Also worthy of note: “Writer’s Block”, directed by Gia Coppola, takes us inside the life of a young Hollywood screenwriter, who happens to have a most enviable DVF wardrobe.
Prints are sizzling hot in the fashion world right now. Of all the creative ways to wear them, we can’t get enough of what they’re doing for pants and denim. Check out our editor’s favorite prints for your lower half and how to wear them all—from polka dots and flirty flowers to artistic blurs and animal spots.
Rocking the printed pants trend is far simpler than it looks. Consider these tips when planning your look, and get ready to turn some heads.
Your first pair. Go for slim-fit and cropped—the easiest and most modern style. Consider picking up a pair of floral-print skinny jeans—a must-have for spring and a great introduction to printed pants.
Height is key. Pair printed bottoms with heels or wedges. Choose flats with caution to avoid the risk of looking like you’re wearing pajamas.
Manage your proportions. Wear looser-fitting tops over printed bottoms—when combined with a cropped hem, this balances the amount of print in proportion to the rest of your outfit.
Day to night. For work, slip on a crochet top or tuck in a silky blouse—a sharp blazer is a great finishing touch. After hours, throw on a slouchy t-shirt and leather jacket for a rocker vibe.
Dare to pair. Don’t be afraid to mix printed bottoms with printed tops and accessories. Just keep them in a similar color palette, and you’re good to go.
Fashion blogger Keiko Lynn is rocking one of my most desired fall pieces: the blazer vest. I love how she mixes her ladylike blouse with an edgy blazer and animal-print pants. And it works!
Her color palette is fantastic, and I love that she matches her lip color to her purse. As a member of the Beauty Board at CVS, she says fall is the season of the bright lip. That’s one trend that is definitely on my list!
