Your All-Time Top 10 Accessories

Well-chosen accessories should complement the rest of what you’re wearing. That’s complement, not compliment, which is basically to comply. The root of complement is complete.

Finishing touches can seem minor but bring everything together and leave lasting impressions. Don’t muck about. Finish strong.

How to Wear a Tie

You know the four-in-hand, the half-Windsor and even how to tie a bow tie. But you ever put on your tie and it looks…not quite right? Watch this video.

Look at the flick of that wrist: Is that a Miansai?

Yes, indeed. The eye-catching Miami-based brand creates masculine, nautical-inspired jewelry. Its calling card is the bracelet. Trademark wrap and cuff models sail out of Miansai’s ocean-adjacent headquarters and end up on fashion runways and wrists of regular guys worldwide.

Versatility is the thing with these bracelets. They look good with t-shirts and with suits. Any occasion is fine. And just so you know, from our official scientific testing at parties, a Miansai bracelet will net at least one compliment per 15 minutes.

We spoke with founder and creative director Michael Saiger about the Miansai name–pronounced my-ahn-sigh–and his main source of inspiration: antique fairs.

seattleseahawksBecause you want to rep your squad before the game but unlike at your bro’s tech job–where everyone wears t-shirts and sits on yoga balls all day–your office dress code is business casual.

That’s why Vineyard Vines’ NFL ties are on point.

But you know what? It’s not just about the external pressure to look good. Contrary to popular belief not all football fans are schlubby.

Some of us, as much as we love the no-cares-given fashion sense of Bill Belichik–and sincerely, we do–like to look crispy and clean while supporting our team.

Fathers Day - HitchcockImage by Studio N

Last-minute Father’s Day shopping? We thought you might be.

To whittle down the field for you, we’ve been highlighting selected gifts leading up to the day–and our finishing touch is about finishing touches.

Ties are a no-brainer. Great Father’s Day gifts. So are suit components like jackets and shirts. But do not overlook details like cuff links and tie clips.

Because if we may generalize, dads often deprive themselves of simple style components that can take personal presentation to the next level.

Stay tuned to this blog in advance of Father’s Day on June 21, because we’re going to hit you with can’t-miss gift ideas for Dad.

You didn’t forget, right?

Let’s start with this Nordstrom-exclusive Tie Bar Style Box. Recommended for dads who wear suits. One way to refresh your look if you’re a suit-wearer is to buy a new suit. Another way is to give new life to an already-owned suit, by styling it with fresh accessories. That’s what this Tie Bar Style Box accomplishes in one fell swoop.

Give Dad this lavender-toned box of socks, pocket squares, neckties and a bow tie, and tell him to wear it with anything blue. And brown shoes.

Let’s take a closer look inside the box, shall we?

This photo is from the Nordstrom holiday catalog from 1977, shot on a Washington State Ferry (aka the peoples’ yacht). And barring the madras car crash happening on that coat, which gives us weirdo Raggedy Andy vibes, we love everything about it.

Anyway: bags. Carrying one can be stylish and functional. And not that the guy in this image ever had such a problem, but where else are you going to put your giant, phabletty phone?

Maybe it’s a party where a tuxedo is the move. Maybe it isn’t. You’ll know. Either way you’re going to look sharp and somebody’s going to kiss you. These ten items can’t hurt.

New Balance x Herschel Supply Co.

Inter-brand collaborations in the menswear universe may have reached a near-comedic level years ago—but when a partnership starring labels as universally loved as New Balance and Herschel Supply Co. comes along, how can we do anything besides pause for a collective moment of admiration…Before starting in on the tough math of whether you can splurge for both the sneaker and the boot.

Scroll down for details; as you can see, the special-edition 420 sneaker and 710 boot both come with custom paisley lining (a Herschel signature), and brown leather accents reminiscent of your favorite backpack. (Herschel ‘Heritage Plus’ backpacks, with internal laptop sleeves, and ‘Novel’ duffel bags in corresponding colors are available as well.)

These guys are selling fast, but there are a few sizes left in the following colors:

The gifts men appreciate most are the ones we can get maximum mileage out of, day in and day out. Case in point: Polo Ralph Lauren’s refined and highly functional finishing touches. Inspired by vintage men’s sporting holdalls, the handcrafted bags seen here are made from burnished saddle leather and durable twill, trimmed with leather and antique brass hardware. For the rugged yet refined dad, husband, boyfriend, brother or son who’s gone above and beyond in the niceness department this year, there’s really no other choice.
