Our latest fashion edition of The Realest features the smart and smiling baker and business owner Kate Sigel in some of our favorite spring dresses. To complement each outfit, hair and makeup artist Jenny Verador created a look that’s classic and clean, with just the right amount of strategically placed color.

For lips that evoke the feeling of spring without being overpowering, we brought all 12 shades from our new Nordstrom-exclusive collection of Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-in-Stick Lipsticks for Jenny to work her magic with. She was a fan of “the amazing color range with great color payoff and moisture.” Kate really loved how they felt, too. And we all loved their sweet hint of mango scent.

See the colors, makeup application and Jenny in action with our how-to video as she takes us through the steps and products she used to create this fresh and pretty makeup look for Kate.

Alice and Oliva embraced the gritty side of the ’70s movement, enlisting Sarah Lucero for Stila to create a look that embodied a mysterious gypsy with a mischievous side.IMG_4027These are not the whimsical bohemian girls you see elsewhere, these are the gals who look like they could pickpocket you–but in a glamorous way–with onyx smokey eyes and larger-than-life lashes. The collection was a return to the era of rock ‘n’ roll and empowered women, and the thick cat eye and heavy lid played along well with the late ’70s bell bottoms and power suits.IMG_4016Inspired by a graphite charcoal art piece, Lucero went for a new take on the smokey eye. To achieve a worn-in look, black Smudge Pots were used along with lots of HUGE Extreme Last Mascara, the application of which, was describes as Lucero as: “Go big or go home.”IMG_4030Faces were left fresh with a touch of color to keep emphasis on the eyes. Aqua Glow Serum foundation and concealer were applied and blended with Beauty Blender Original and Micro Mini sponges before swashes of Convertible Color Palettes in Sunrise and Sunset and Stay All Day Bronzer were applied. Lips were left equally as simple, with just a layer of Kaleidoscope Lip Glaze for a soft pink shine.IMG_4035

For our most recent installment of The Realest over on The Thread, our real-woman model Caitlin Braam showed us around her office—a brewery and cidery where she is president of both companies.

We spent the day photographing her around her workplace and outfitting her with new dresses to try for spring. Since we had a hair and makeup artist on hand as well as a photographer, we thought we’d share how to get her fresh, minimalist and perfect-for-spring makeup look. Bonus: artist Jamyrlyn Mallory takes it from day to night with a pop-of-color lip and just the right amount of bronzer and contour from the new NARS Hot Sand Collection. Pretty. Easy.

Of course one of our favorite things about award shows and red carpet events is seeing what all the stars are wearing and checking out the beauty looks complementing all that glamour. Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury was on the scene (where else would she be?) and gave us all the secrets to re-creating three makeup looks we loved at the Golden Globes.

For the second season in a row, we’re counting down the crucial pre-Christmas shopping days with a series called Gifted Givers, in which friends old and new share their thoughts on stylishly spirited giving and receiving.

charlotte-tilbury-interview-with-nordstromTalk about gifted. As one of the most in-demand artists in the industry, Charlotte Tilbury pretty much has the Midas touch when it comes to makeup. So, what’s on Charlotte’s list to give and receive this year? We know, we know! (Because she was nice enough to tell us). See what this gifted giver has in store for her family and A-list friends this holiday season.
