While we love choices, we also love some great advice for selecting the perfect foundation and supplementary products. So we’re enlisting the expertise of a few Beauty Stylists to be 100% ensured of the best look possible, whatever the skin type or concern. They had so much information to share, we’re making it a miniseries.

What woman doesn’t want beautiful skin?

One of the first steps to achieve flawless skin is prepping with a great primer. After you apply your moisturizer, apply a primer. Just like you prime your walls before you paint them, using a primer beforehand allows your foundation to go on smoother by filling in any pores or lines; plus, your foundation will have a longer wear—who doesn’t want that?

YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer is my new go-to because it blurs imperfections, primes, adds an extra boost of radiance to the skin and increases your social media following (well, kind of).

Every woman should have at least two foundations in her foundation wardrobe. It comes in handy to have a variety of looks, wears and finishes based on an event. For your red-carpet outing, Dior Airflash is a must-have. This foundation instantly transforms you into a movie star with its easy application and airbrushed finish, plus it comes in a huge range of colors, so there’s a match for everyone. When ducking paparazzi, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is a girl’s best friend. It offers the most natural coverage and has two formulas to suit any skin type. My favorite tip to share with customers is to start the foundation application in the area that needs the most coverage. Use a stippling motion in areas that need more coverage and a swiping motion where you don’t need as much.

Last on the journey to flawless skin is a pressed powder. I love M·A·C Mineralized Skinfinish Powder to set my foundation. Your flawless look will last all day, and it’s great to keep in your handbag for a touchup, if you need it.

My favorite foundation is Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (oil-free, all-day, sheer to moderate coverage for all skin types).

Step 1: Prep the skin by using the multifunctional Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Cream SPF 30
· Using fingertips, apply evenly all over face.

Step 2: Use a blender brush to create a streak-free application
· Begin in the middle of the face and use quick outward sweeping motions for an airbrushed look.
· Finish your foundation with Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm applied with a “strobing” technique.

Step 3: Set with Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre
· For more coverage, use the puff provided by pressing it lightly into the skin.
· The silklike powder provides radiance, blurring lines and imperfections.

Don’t forget to add some blush for natural-looking flushed cheeks.

For a flawless complexion it’s important to prepare your skin by cleansing. A primer will help your foundation to last all day and offers a variety of finishes such as matte, radiant and bronzing. Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base gives skin a fresh, juicy glow without being overly sparkly and is beautiful on its own or under foundation. For a more matte finish try NARS Oil Free Pore Refining Primer, which instantly reduces shine for oilier skin types.

Finding the right foundation can be like finding the right bikini … you need to try out a lot before you get the perfect one. Very important, of course, is picking the right color. It’s always best to stick to your natural skin tone! If you want something darker or lighter, use a bronzer or radiance powder to adjust. This way you can have the results you want with a more natural appearance. A beautiful radiance foundation is YSL Touche Éclat Foundation, which has a very natural, sheer to medium glowing finish.

Love the matte look? Try Laura Mercier Silk Crème Oil Free Foundation. This has smoothing, medium to full matte coverage without looking cakey. For any foundation application, dot your foundation down the centre of your face and blend out toward the edges. Use your fingertips to gently caress into the skin and along the hairline, and don’t forget to blend down your neck. To finish, use a large powder brush (my favorite is Chanel #1) and buff with a sheer or translucent setting powder. To rehydrate and re-energize your complexion throughout the day, gently mist your face with Amorepacific Moisture Bound Spray.
