M•A•C Cosmetics for Marchesa | Backstage Beauty

Gorgeous skin and a gorgeous lip were front and center today at Marchesa. Gucci Westman for M•A•C Cosmetics chose a fuchsia lip as the focal point. She was inspired by the bright and pastel fabrics in the collection, and she also said, “it looks great with all skin tones. Fuchsia is chic; it’s like vintage Saint Laurent”.

This was truly a simple look that made a statement! Gucci said,”we’re working backwards today and starting with the lips first”. Retro Matte Liquid Lip Color (coming this winter!) was brushed in the center of the lips, blending out toward the corners. To Matte with Love was then applied from outer corners inward.

To complete the lip, a blend of Girl About Town and Flat Out Fabulous Lipsticks were used over the Retro Mattes to intensify color. We know dramatic lipstick shades can sometimes be unforgiving if it’s not applied precisely, so here’s a pro tip from Gucci: if you don’t get the most perfect edges, don’t worry. You can clean up immediately using concealer and a small brush (our recommendation: M•AC’s 242 Shader Brush).

Gorgeous skin was achieved in just a few steps. Over fleshly moisturized skin, Gucci used Strobe Cream on cheekbones, eyelids, down the bridge of the nose, on the chin and the cupid’s bow of the lips. Where needed, Pro Longwear Concealer was used to make skin flawless. On the eyes, Clear Lipglass was applied on the eyelids for a subtle glossy shine that gleamed in the light. Gucci said she loved the contrast of the super matte mouth with the different highlights on the skin and eyes, and we agree!
