Organic Treatment for Stretch Marks and Getting Supple Skin | Beauty Profiles

During her pregnancy, Nordstrom Beauty Buyer Tawni Hart tried some homemade organic balm, and it was so good, she jumped at the chance to bring the product to Nordstrom. She tells us her story behind discovering the Redefining Body Balm from Tata Harper Skincare.

Tata Harper at her organic farm in Vermont

“This body balm is so special to me—it was born from a homemade version I created to keep my skin looking its best through my three pregnancies. This version contains some of the world’s most advanced toning and fortifying ingredients, and it’s a miracle for keeping stretch marks at bay. I’m so excited to share it with Nordstrom!” —Tata Harper

I met Tata Harper when I was four months pregnant with twin girls. My best friend had used her products and swore by them. Tata, a mom of three, said to me, “You have to use my body balm. It’s all homemade and truly organic. I’ll send it to you; just use it daily on your stomach to help with stretch marks and to keep your skin soft.” I thought, With twins I’ll try anything!

About a week later, I received a plain apothecary jar with literally just a Post-it attached that listed the ingredients. It was a waxlike balm that had to be emulsified, or warmed up, with your hands. I rubbed it all over my growing belly. There was a soft fragrance of lavender and other botanicals, but it wasn’t overwhelming, which can be hard to find and is so important when you’re pregnant and sensitive to everything. I was immediately hooked! I used it religiously every day for the remainder of my pregnancy.

My girls decided to come a little earlier than expected, so I was admitted to the hospital and put on bed rest. The nurses couldn’t believe it when they saw my skin and how good it still looked—completely smooth with not one stretch mark. I called Tata and told her that she needed to make this available to the public so that every mom-to-be can experience its glory. I thought it would be a great fit for us at Nordstrom.

Harper tromping the grounds

Tata is incredible; she’s extremely down-to-earth and puts family first, all while running her business, which also happens to be where she lives and grows her ingredients. Everything comes from the family farm. Our customer has been telling us that she’s looking for a brand that’s 100 percent organic, and Tata Harper truly is.

Hello Brizida, Great question! We reached out to Tata Harper, and her team tells us the only products they don’t recommend during pregnancy are their Aromatherapy Treatments.
