National Beauty Director Debra Redmond and Beauty Trend Editor Kate Fannin share their picks for glamour on-the-go during New York Fashion Week.

Debra’s Picks:

The object of the game is to look as good at 10pm as you did at 8am; the day is jam-packed with shows as well as meet-and-greets, and you want to ensure that you’re putting your best face forward all day long. Because touch-up opportunities are slim to none, you’ve got to have products that last.

Must-Have Nail Color: Prince’s Plums by butter LONDON. Navy is the new black for fall 2013, and that prominent hue (that I’m obsessing over) needs a perfect partner if you want to exquisitely accessorize it. This nail color is the perfect complement, as it combines cool undertones of navy and plum with rich, sophisticated touches of black. If you want to make a statement this season, this polish is your must have.

Fresh-Looking SkinSmashbox Liquid Halo HD Foundation was created to conceal and perfect—even in HD. Its build-able coverage leaves you looking natural with a satin matte finish.

Shadow or Liner: NARS Eye Paint in Black Valley is essential. You can define it, smudge it or smoke it out and not have to worry about it staying in place through the day and into the night.

Show-Stopper Lip Color: M•AC Lipstick in Russian Red. The game-changer of all red lipsticks, this is a classic staple that lasts all day.

Taxi Cab Touch-UpTrish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift Concealer is like a 3 o’clock shot of espresso for your eyes! It’s easy to apply while you’re on the move: a quick dot on the inside of the eye next to the nose and then two or three dots on the outer corner of the eye blended up to the temple. Voilá! You’re instantly refreshed and brightened.

Kate’s Picks:

I’m most looking forward to the new iterations of spring colors and applications (“brushes vs. fingers” is a backstage mainstay). Whether it’s a new take on a classic idea or something wildly different that we’ve not yet seen, I’m always interested in hearing the stories that inspired the looks. Interpreting the stories and translating the trends for our customers is my favorite part of my job!

Go-to Gloss: Kevyn Aucoin Beauty’s The Lip Gloss in Pasiflora. It has great “slip” without being sticky, looks great alone or over lipstick and has the faintest Creamsicle scent (I have a wicked sweet tooth, and during busy NYFW, sometimes this lipstick is the closest I get to a treat). Best of all, it can be applied without a mirror, thanks to the generous applicator tip.

Long-Lasting Mascara: Bobbi Brown’s new Smokey Eye Mascara is perfect. It gives the right amount of volume and length without ever being sticky or clumpy, and it lasts all day without flaking (very important for contact-wearers like myself). Plus, it really does achieve the smoky eye trend. It’s also super-easy to remove—especially with another NYFW staple, MAC Wipes (you see these everywhere backstage, because they remove all your makeup with just one wipe).

Stay Hydrated: Clinique’s All About Eyes cream is one of my NYFW saviors. It’s hard enough to stay alert and hydrated when running from show to show, so this awesome eye cream is the best “drink” for my tired eyes. I use it at night before bed and in the morning under my concealer to help reduce puffiness. If I have a mini-fridge in my room, I pop it in there for a super-refreshing instant eye lift.

On-the-Go Hand Cream: L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream is the best for traveling! The petite tubes fit in any makeup bag and can do double-duty on hands and lips (even hair in a pinch!). Plus, the cream sinks right in, which is essential when you’re attached to your phone 24/7—can’t take notes or photos with slippery hands!
