Stacey-Schannon-2Bold lips are my jam! To create the perfect bold lip, I start by priming with Guerlain KissKiss Liplift (available in store). Priming helps your lipstick to adhere, and this one has a bonus of plumping and smoothing lips too! Then I line my lips with a lip liner in the same color family as my chosen lipstick to prevent feathering. I start in the center or bow of my lips and sketch outward. Some of my favorite colors are Nightmoth and Burgundy lip pencils from M•A•C and CHANEL Aqua Crayon in Rouge.

Next, I apply my lipstick starting in the center and working outward. I prefer a matte, bold lip and some of my go-to products are NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in Damned and Cruella, M•A•C Matte Lip Shades in Instigator, Matte Royal and D For Danger and Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Femme Fatale.

Pro tip: Use Anastasia’s Highlighting Pencil over the bow of your upper lip and under your lower lip to get some extra POP!

The Graphic Eye | Trending Now

TRENDING-NOW-GRAPHIC-EYE-FALL-MAKEUP-TRENDS

Fall has always been the season for the smoky eye—and 2015 is no exception—but new approaches make it exciting, sophisticated and defiantly dramatic. Regardless of the techniques and colors used, we love these fun variations:

Classic
From gorgeous greys and deep browns to modern cinnamon and plum tones, smoky never looked so good.

Smoldering
Layering deep jewel tones like purple or metallic chocolate creates retro-like lids with amazing finishes.

Artistic and Graphic
Cue the black eyeliner revolution because this is way more than the traditional cat eye.

“Summer is all about the Right Bright Lip! Shades of watermelon, raspberry and orange are a must. The texture can vary; it can be a lipstick, a gloss or a stain…as long as it’s bright, it’s right!” –Loredana Grama, Nordstrom National Beauty Director

Our beauty trend editor Kate Fannin picks some of her favorite new fragrances with clean, modern scents that put a fresh spin on floral.

Like many women my age, my earliest “perfume memories” are heavily scented with Love’s Baby Soft, Jean Naté After Bath Splash and a few Designer Imposters body sprays (you know you had one in your locker). But my first true love was Tea Rose. Although my siblings begged me to stop spraying it everywhere, I’m pretty sure it’s why I still love floral-based scents (that, and memorizing every word to “The Yellow Rose of Texas”).

My go-to scents at home (along with a couple favorite vintage brooches and the must-have Louboutin nail polish!).

Thankfully, my “nose” for fragrance has evolved over the years, and I’m excited that florals continue to find new ways to reinvent themselves. Read on for my newest picks, classic favorites and must-haves for your home.

Trending Now: Night Shades

Kate Fannin introduces our favorite beauty trend right now: night shades for eyes.

hero

The smoky eye gets dusky this season—grounded in cool, flinty shades of slate gray and metallic pewter. This trend can be smoldering and sultry for night (try our new “halo” technique below), or you can simply define your waterline for a modern approach for day. Shimmering cocoa adds yet another option that’s perfect for day or night.

Nails can accent this edgy yet feminine look with gunmetal, mica or black patent polish and accented with gold flecks for a shock of color.

Try this trend yourself with Charlotte Tilbury’s pro tips for creating a super-easy smoky eye.
