Happy November, lovelies! Between the stellar fashion, amazing weather and scrumptious food, these last couple of months truly are the most wonderful time of the year. Speaking of fashion, ’tis the season for one of my favorite trends: faux fur.
I firmly believe that every girl should own a fabulous faux fur vest! I styled mine with a plaid shirt and some boyfriend jeans for a lumberjack-chic type of look. Now, it wouldn’t be a true “Caroline ensemble” without some bling. My rose gold crystal necklace and geometric bangles add a sense of glam to my woodsy-inspired outfit.
If you’re looking for a more everyday way to wear faux fur (because let’s be honest a full on fur vest can sometimes be a bit too extravagant for the school hallways), a fur scarf is a great alternative. This light grey faux fur scarf is incredibly soft and cozy (it seriously feels like I’m wearing a blanket), all while maintaining the fun and girly vibe of my outfit.
Now, technically this next clothing piece isn’t faux fur, but it gives off the same luxurious vibe that fur does, just in a slightly different way. Eyelash/fuzzy sweaters are a huge trend this year, and trust me when I say this sweater is the most comfortable, softest, most heavenly feeling thing I’ve ever worn!
Today, I’m focusing on knee-high socks. Whether they’re a classic black or have a quirky kittens on them, knee-highs add adorableness to any outfit! Their extra warmth during the colder months doesn’t hurt, either. To be honest, I haven’t quite figured out how to wear jeans or pants with long socks yet, so here are three different takes on knee-highs with skirts, dresses and a whole lot of layers.
1. Casual Layers From the earthy tones to the loose layers, this outfit screams fall. The incorporation of knee socks here is subtle—they just peek out of the riding boots. A denim jacket adds a casual feel for an easy, everyday look.
2. Feminine & Chic Not only is this outfit warm and fuzzy (this Topshop pullover is fluffy heaven), but also delicate and girly…which is different for me. This slip might be the only piece of pink clothing I own, to be honest. With some tall black boots, pearl necklaces, and (of course) knee-high socks, this feminine outfit is complete.
3. All-Black Everything Like the Olsen twins, my go-to color is always black. It matches everything, and has an edgy-yet-classic vibe. To mimic the fashion-forward sisters, I went for an all-black ensemble including a black headwrap (which I’m obsessed with), and a chunky silver necklace. I’m used to wearing tall socks with tall boots, but here I thought I’d experiment with some short ankle booties.
1. Head Wraps These babies are going to be huge this fall! They look absolutely adorable on both short and long hair. I’m kinda obsessed.
2. Scarves Scarves are always a must-have for autumn. This year I’m loving all the plaid prints and fuzzy textures…especially the fur! Scarves are also the perfect way to add a little pizzazz to any simple outfit.
3. Beanies Everyone loves a slouchy beanie! They keep your noggin warm and are the perfect solution for a bad hair day. Also, how cute is this ballet pink color?

This past spring and summer beaded bracelets were a huge trend and I’m determined to transition these fun and funky bracelets into the fall time. But some of these bracelets can be a tad pricey, especially if you’re wanting to stack a bunch of them for some unique arm candy. That’s why I’m going to show you guys a cheap and easy way to make your own beaded bracelets—so you can create a different “party on your arm” every day.
For supplies you’re going to need some scissors, stretchy jewelry string, and some colorful beads and charms of your choice. These things can all be found at your local craft store for quite the inexpensive price.
Once you’ve cut your string, the first step is to tie the end of the string into a few knots. Then one by one start adding on your beads and charms. It’s really all up to you what pattern of beads and how many charms you put on so be creative with it. Once you’ve filled up the string, pull the two ends together and knot them a couple of times and BAM! You have just finished your first (of many) beaded bracelet.
These are just a handful of the many beaded bracelets I’ve made myself. I guess you could say it’s kind of an obsession. They are just so easy and affordable to make, plus they look great mixed and matched with any jewelry. So happy beading, and let your inner DIY diva out to play!
You may not know that I’m a huge nail polish junkie. I am! For weeks now I’ve been itching to get to the salon to try out a new fall color, and after ruling out darker emeralds, plums and reds, I went with this subtle military green.
Take a look:
As much as I love a nice matte black nail polish, I’ll save that for winter. This light green is the perfect transition from summer to fall.
I can’t help but show off my new phone case a little. My iPhone had been broken for the longest time so in honor of it getting fixed, I treated myself to this new Marc by Marc Jacobs phone case. (Ok, that’s such a bad excuse to get a new phone case, but I had to justify my purchase somehow!) This case is such an interesting item, lots of strangers have stopped me just to tell me how cool they think it is.
While I would usually consider myself a statement necklace kind of girl, these last few months of summer have brought out my softer side. There’s just something so simple and elegant about a delicate gold chain. As opposed to wearing just one piece, I prefer pairing and layering dainty necklaces for a more casual look. This is one of my favorite combinations:
While scrolling through Instagram and oohing and ahhing over everyone’s festival looks, I stumbled across these wonderful metallic temporary tattoos called Flash Tattoos. They’re the perfect touch of shine to add to any beachy or boho outfit. I personally can’t wait to wear them when I go to an EDM music festival in September! Unfortunately I will no longer be blogging for you girls when that rolls around, so I gave them a little test run!
Take a look:
The facial tattoos are probably best left to festivals, concerts, and other fun shenanigans when you want to be a little extra sparkly.
These on the other hand could be worn every day. I would pair them with a black floral maxi dress and some actual bangles to mix in with the tattoo bracelets.
I honestly just found Flash Tats to be such a fun and unique product that I couldn’t resist sharing!
P.S. You can even apply them to your nails to create tribal nail art. 🙂
From Prada to Dolce & Gabbana to Roberto Cavalli, I have been seeing embellished sunglasses all over the runways. The great thing? Decorated sunglasses are SUPER easy to make yourself, and they’re trendy, adorable and make a bold statement. All you need is hot glue!
To embellish a pair of sunglasses, you’ll need sunglasses (surprise!) and basically every other material is up to you. I suggest picking up some plastic flowers or letter beads, but you can go as sophisticated as you want.
I chose to go in the more cutesy, less sophisticated direction, adding letters and ice cream beads to my sunnies. I suggest taping the embellishments on before gluing—that will help you avoid mistakes.
How darling are these?! “Penny Lane” is not only one of the greatest songs, but also the name of my style icon from “Almost Famous.”
Embellished sunnies are a perfect accessory for the summe—they’re crazy darling and very on-trend. Enjoy an afternoon of DIY. 🙂
In the words of the great Gwen Stefani, “I ain’t no hollaback girl.” I’m pretty sure she was just way ahead of the trends and really meant “I ain’t no holograph girl.” I’ve blogged about this before, and I’m blogging about it again: I love the holographic trend.* My best pal, Natalie, is a huge fan too. She offered to model her signature sunnies just for you, dear readers.
This is my favorite picture that I think I’ve taken of these awesome sunnies. The reflection is just outta this world!
Take a peek at some of my favorite mirrored/holographic sunglasses. I can’t get enough:
One summer trend I have been seeing everywhere is mixing and wearing of florals! Flower-patterned shirts, skirts, accessories—flowers are everywhere and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s a chance to embrace your inner Alice-in-Wonderland or pay homage to the amazing ’90s daisies trend.
The great thing about modern florals is that people are A-OK with mixing prints. For this outfit, I grabbed a white tank with large purple flowers to pair with loose, daisy-patterned shorts. It doesn’t matter which flowers you like, wear your lilacs and lilies on top of your roses.
Leah’s understated black floral shirt looks awesome paired with simple white shorts. Add a pair of sandals and you’ll be a blossoming it-girl. (Get it?!)
I grabbed this midi-ring when I was shopping with Clare and Alyssa. I love its delicate leaf pattern. Simple gold rings like these look fab with daisy chokers or rosette earrings.
Embrace this summer’s floral trend! You can try out dozens of types of petals. 🙂
