I made a trip to the mall with my family recently. Upon arriving at the top of the Nordstrom escalator (heading to the BP Department, of course!), I saw something that wasn’t usually there: a trunk show. I was instantly drawn to the table full of beautiful handmade bracelets and necklaces. This is where I met Carmin and Christian Black.
This brother and sister duo started a company called Half United, based in Wilmington, NC, back in 2009 and have been growing ever since.
Carmin and Christian are definitely passionate about their goal: fighting world hunger. Half United sells apparel, bracelets, and necklaces to help their cause. Here are some of the neckleces they had today. I love that these pieces are so unique and so different! The main charms serve as a reminder of the fight.
They even had separate pieces where you could mix and match charms to create your own one-of-a-kind necklace!
The best part about Half United? 50% of their proceeds go toward planting school gardens, giving lunch meals to children in developing nations, hosting food outreach events, participating in book-bag-buddy programs, adopting neighborhoods, hosting food drives and even delivering meals.
Half United not only helps children across the globe, they also help to feed children right here in the United States! There are so many organizations devoted to fighting hunger around the world (which is great don’t get me wrong), but there are so many people who need help within our own borders as well.
Their bracelets are particularly special because they are made by children in Cambodia as part of a craft program at the EAI orphanage that Half United supports. Over half of the profits from every bracelet purchased goes directly back to the orphanage.
Carmin and Christian will be taking their trunk show to Nordstrom stores all around the country. Be sure to keep an eye out for them at your local Nordstrom!
Here’s the necklace I bought from them today! I’m already in love with it!
Be sure to get your own, and join in the fight against world hunger!
