One-of-a-Kind Prom Accessories

Prom season is in full swing. For those of you who have already experienced your school’s prom: Congratulations. You have successfully completed a teenage rite of passage. For those of you (like me) whose proms are happening later this month: Get excited!

I love high-school dances because not only are they hilarious and cheesy, they’re a great opportunity to show off my style. And prom especially is a pinnacle night for fashion. You can choose to swim against the current, expressing your unique and individual tastes. It’s a chance to show your peers your true stylish self, all glammed up and sparkling.

Unique accessories are one of the best ways to personalize your prom look. Check out some of my favorites for the big night of teenagedom:

1. Birdcage Veil

I found this birdcage veil recently at an antique store. I love its fragility and flower detailing. Wearing a small veil to prom adds mystery, old-school glamour and a hint of promise to your look and definitely helps you stand out in the group pics.

If you’d like to create your own aura of mysterious allure, Nordstrom has a pretty good selection of birdcage veils to choose from.

2. Statement Earrings

You can’t go wrong with some out-there statement earrings like these shimmering pink ballerinas. They’re a step away from simple hoops or studs, and they can help bring focus to your probably amazing and time-consuming hairstyle.

Be creative! Lucky for you, there are lots of statement earrings in the world, so have fun finding a pair that suits you perfectly.

3. Vintage Necklace

I got this vintage portrait necklace from my grandpa—it’s from the 1800s. I love wearing it not only because it’s incredibly beautiful, but because it’s important to me. When your jewelry has meaning, the entire night has a little more meaning.

Be individual on prom night! Try some unique and adorable accessories, and don’t be afraid to dress differently than the other girls in your group. 🙂

Stay golden,
