Hot-Weather Leather

I don’t know about you guys, but the weather has been ridiculously hot lately, especially for us Oregonians who are used to rain and temps varying from 50 to 70 degrees in the summer! Lately we’ve had a hot streak of 80- to 100-degree temperatures, but after 39 days with no rain, Portland finally got some summer showers that lowered things down to between 70 and 80.

So after I’d finally gotten used to the hot weather … I got cold and ended up wearing a leather jacket at night.

Leather for Any Weather

Leather clothing can be super trendy or ultra classic. It all depends on the style of the piece. This ever-enduring trend has always been one of my favorites for the fall and winter seasons. It is an absolute must-have in my wardrobe! How you decide to wear it is entirely up to you.

1. Jackets and Vests

When it’s cold outside, grab a leather jacket. Although there are more trendy pieces within this category, leather jackets tend to fall more on the classic (read: you’ll have this forever) side of things. They are perfect for throwing on over any outfit to add an edgy touch or just to keep warm! One of my favorite jackets is in BP.

Leather jacketVests and jackets with contrast sleeves show the more trendy side of leather. Simple details can add the perfect and unique touch to an outfit. This utility jacket with leather sleeves is adorable. I have a denim jacket with contrast sleeves that I love to pieces!

2. Skirts and Shorts

For warmer days, you can rock a pair of leather shorts or a leather skirt. I can’t wait until I get my hands on one of these two items! Skirts add a girly touch to such an edgy material. I love leather skirts paired with more feminine pieces like lace.

3. Leggings

On days with cooler temperatures, opt for a chic pair of leggings! You can go all out, like with these, or stick with details such as paneling or tuxedo stripes.

4. Tops

Tops are literally the “leather for any weather.” Whether it’s cold or warm, you can always work a leather top into your outfit. A sleeveless top like this one is perfect for any season. If it’s warm, you can wear it as is, but if it’s cold you can always add a jacket or sweater. The peplum on this one is so cute!
