End-of-Summer OOTD

Just because the season is coming to an end doesn’t mean you have to stop wearing all your favorite summer clothes at once. In fact, I’d say you should wear them as long as you can—soon enough it will be time to start layering for the cold.

Tees | Shorts | Platform sandals

Clare (pictured here) and I are all about sticking to a neutral aesthetic when it comes to a go-to outfit. The weather this day was just warm enough for shorts but not too hot for a comfy tee. Plus, her chunky sandals are both fashionable and comfortable for walking around town.

Living in Portland, I have the luxury of growing up in a city that was built around a river—hence the name “port” “land”. Portland’s skyline is always changing, but no matter where you are along the river, you will always have bridges in the background.

One of my favorite places for photo shoots is the Eastbank Esplanade on the east side of Portland. It’s along the river on the opposite side of downtown. Will and I decided it would be fun to take some photos there and share a little bit more of Portland with you guys.

OOTD: Little Sister Edition

In a not-so-surprising twist, it turns out my sister has amazing style—just like her older sister! She came with me to run errands recently and I just loved the outfit she chose.

She wore a loose, lightweight, oversized tee with ripped, light-wash jeans and Timberland-inspired boots and carried a nude bucket bag—so of-the-moment right now. Love.

OOTD: Plain James

So the sun finally decided to make it’s way out today, and what better to do then take some pictures?

*The Chukka boot I have on is available right now, on sale in Black get it here!

This is a very relaxed look that anyone can sport! I wore a teal button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to make the look more casual. I then paired it with a chocolate-colored pant and finished off the look with my favorite chukkas. I really liked the earth-tone feel of this look, and I love pairing colors that you might not normally match together.

Enjoy your summer,

During my spring break trip to NYC, I stayed at The New York Palace Hotel for a night—and if y’all aren’t aware, The Palace is where Serena and Chuck lived during the first two seasons of “Gossip Girl.” (Exciting, right!?) I was so inspired by “Gossip Girl” for this OOTD, not so much by Serena as by Blair. Blair is most definitely my spirit animal, and this outfit manages to capture her preppy style while intertwining a bit of my own. This outfit is the perfect mix of B and C! (Blair and Caroline, haha.)

OOTD: All White

Often I sport dark or all-black ensembles, but a fresh trend I love is the all-white trend. This look is similar to the minimalistic trend, which usually showcases a single color palette.

For an easy way to wear all white, it doesn’t get much better than a simple shirtdress.

My favorite part about this dress is the preppy-looking collar. I don’t seem to own any white shoes, so I made an exception with a pair of turquoise sandals… Oops!

Lighten up for spring with this all-white trend! 🙂

Every once in a while I come to school and discover that Saadiq and I somehow became telepathic while getting dressed. That’s when we end up twinning (completely unplanned, I might add).

On this day, we both wore Nike Air Force 1s. I wore track pants, a cropped muscle tank and a jean jacket. He wore faded jeans, a California sweatshirt and a strapback hat.

You can see Saadiq and I looking gorgeous in snapbacks last year, courtesy of Clare.

OOTD: Mix Master

I’ve done a print-mixing post before and received some great feedback on it, so I’ve decided to try my luck at the art of mixing prints once again. I think this outfit is great for that sometimes-awkward spring-to-summer transition. You know, when it’s still kind of chilly and windy outside, but also sunny too? Welcome to the Pacific Northwest, darlings.

I’m a huge advocate for stripes and floral. If you’re wary about venturing into the abyss of clashing patterns, pairing your striped tees with floral bottoms is the perfect beginning. Try to pick prints with similarly colored backgrounds. Both the background of my shorts and tee are white, so that makes them go together seamlessly!

I love this hat so much. It will always remind me of my trip to San Francisco last fall and the little market where I got it.

When the weather (finally) gets nice in the Pacific Northwest, people emerge from their umbrellas and head up to the mountains for hiking adventures. My friend Leah and I put on our traditional PNW garb and went exploring in Olympic National Park. We found the Vance Creek Bridge: the second highest railway bridge in America that was never completed. We walked along the bridge (carefully), thinking of Stand By Me and Twin Peaks.

I wore a short-sleeved floral dress and wool-lined jean jacket.

We managed to get our feet (donning Mary Janes and oxfords) close enough to the edge to feel like we were dangling in the air above the river. The adventure was a perfect way to kick off the spring season PNW style.

Stay golden,
