My Favorite Fall Booties

We may still be taking beach trips and soaking up the sun, but believe it or not, fall is right around the corner. What better way to get ready for autumn than by shopping for some new fall shoes? Here are three of my favorite booties for the upcoming season.

#1. BP. ‘Daphne’ Bootie

To me, this first pair just screams fall. They seem like a simple and durable pair of boots, but there’s still character with their earthy brown hues and that cute front strap. The chocolate color is my personal favorite, but they also come in black and navy.

#2. Steve Madden ‘Grroupie’ Gore Bootie

I’ve been dying to get a pair of Chelsea boots and fell in love with these! In fact, they’re currently in my shopping cart. I love the classic, all-black look, and I know they’ll match absolutely everything.

#3. BP. ‘Trott’ Bootie

Writing this post is dangerous: I just added these booties to my cart as well … oops! The red color is just too good, and the heel is perfect for anyone looking for a bit of extra height.

HeroWhat booties are on your list for fall?

Clare and I both have a lot of shoes—and personally I love shoe shopping more than pretty much anything else. We thought it might be interesting to show you our favorite styles for spring and summer. Behold, the video below!

Nude Heels | Strappy Heels | Chunky Sandals | Block Heels | Ankle Booties | Flatforms

Converse | Nike Air Force 1 | Vans Slip-Ons | Nike Roshe Run | Nike Air Max 90

I hope this gives you guys some “shoe-spiration.”

For a company that began as a shoe store, we don’t talk about shoes nearly enough around here (or at least on this blog). That, combined with spring’s official arrival, meant we couldn’t help but highlight these adorable floral sandals.

BP. ‘Luminate’ Open Toe Sandal | $59.95

What we love:

The floral print. We love the soft floral print on these sandals—it’s perfect for spring and summer, and it adds a little bit of feminine flair to the otherwise simple design.

The slender ankle strap. This little ankle strap is so on-trend right now. It emphasizes the minimalist design of the shoe, not to mentions it’s super functional. Say goodbye to walking out of your shoes!

The classic heel height. The heel is about 3 inches high—very chic. It’ll give you a sophisticated, classic look without being so high that it’s hard to walk in.

But if you’re averse to heels, we also love these floral flats. Happy spring!

BP. ‘Moreover’ Pointy Toe Flat | $49.95

OOTD: Nike Roshes

I love the sporty, athletic trend. I recently got these Nike Roshes and I find myself gravitating to them all the time. At first I wasn’t sure how to style them. The fashion bloggers I follow usually pair their Roshes with jeans, so I took my cues from them.

Nike ‘Roshe Run’ Sneakers

My closet is primarily filled with dark, neutral clothing, so I went with a plain black tee, dark-wash skinnies and an oversized, hooded cardigan. I’m also wearing a beanie and choker to accessorize the outfit.

Every once in a while I come to school and discover that Saadiq and I somehow became telepathic while getting dressed. That’s when we end up twinning (completely unplanned, I might add).

On this day, we both wore Nike Air Force 1s. I wore track pants, a cropped muscle tank and a jean jacket. He wore faded jeans, a California sweatshirt and a strapback hat.

You can see Saadiq and I looking gorgeous in snapbacks last year, courtesy of Clare.

OOTD: Gladiator Sandals

After seeing the gorgeous Roman-inspired silhouettes at Valentino’s latest haute couture show, I have been utterly inspired to embrace my inner goddess. Check it out:

Beautiful, right? The long, simply constructed pieces and knee-length gladiator sandals make me want to run through the Forum. Although you and I probably can’t snatch one of these lovely gowns from Valentino, there are simple ways to create an equally enchanting look.

For my gladiator OOTD (I imagine an actual gladiator OOTD would consist of, like, armor and weaponry, but you get what I mean), I grabbed a simple navy dress, light brown sandals and a small charm necklace. Dark colors and simple lines are what make Roman-inspired outfits successful.

Quick Tip: If you want gladiators in a hurry, wrap some leather craft band around your leg above your sandals and tie it with a bow behind your calf—no one will be able to tell!

This one-shouldered chiffon dress (Topshop x Kate Moss) definitely gives off Roman toga vibes, but in a chic, modern way, while these fabulous gladiator sandals from BCBG add a silvery twist to a nighttime look.

Every day is a good day to channel a Roman goddess! Who’ve you been inspired by this haute couture season?

Stay golden,

From here to the end of August, I’ll be trading in my Doc Martens and high-tops for sandals. Since I’ll be going on a big trip this summer (more on that later!), I was looking for sandals that are light and versatile, easy to wear every day with a different outfit.

Here are my top picks:

1. ‘Collective’ Sandal, $54.95
This minimalist sandal from Very Volatile is simple and comfortable. It’s like a modern take on the Roman sandal, and looks awesome with toga-esque summer dresses.

2. ‘Kroatia’ Sandal, $33.46 (on sale!)
I’ve always been a fan of the classic, strapped sandal—it’s reliable and works with everything. From early morning bike rides to evenings on the beach, you can wear these all day long.

3.  ‘Ybireri’ Sandal, $69.95
I love this black sandal, understated but definitely still trendy. The buckle at the top makes it more of a statement shoe, pairing nicely with a loose tank and skater skirt.

‘Ybireri’ Sandal by Shellys London

4. ‘Clementine’ Sandal, $68.95
This is my absolute favorite sandal for this summer. I’m all about white these days, but this shoe comes in a ton of colors! It’s very ’50s, with the delicate weaving and pointed toe, wonderful for picnics and sightseeing.

And since each pair is less than $75, it’s that much easier to step stylishly into your summer adventures. 🙂

Loving Keds

There’s something about a pair of Keds. I mean, you throw on a pair of Keds and you can literally do anything. I wore them hiking with my friend last weekend, I wore them on the beach in L.A., I wore them on the metro in Paris with my sister. They’re wonderful and versatile and comfortable while you’re dancing and always available to throw on and go adventuring.

My often-mentioned hero and imaginary best friend Taylor Swift designs for Keds, so you know the shoes are perfect to wear with vintage-style sweaters and ’60s dresses and, of course, red lipstick.

I got this new pair of white Keds that I paired with my favorite Topshop shirt and sherbert-orange shorts.

I love these gray polka-dot shoes that Taylor designed. I wore them with a patterned-filled outfit: lace shorts and a floral top. This was such a summery afternoon, my friend and I took our bikes down to the waterfront and ate ice cream and talked about Justin Timberlake and vacationing in the Canary Islands.

One of Keds’ big campaigns is to promote bravery in its many forms, encouraging girls to be brave enough to put themselves out there for a job interview or to try woodworking or whatever. I think bravery comes from just refusing to be embarrassed about yourself. Journal your thoughts/stories/feelingz/lyrics and don’t be embarrassed about what you have to say! Your words, individual style and beliefs are ridiculously important and unique, you know?

I truly and completely feel brave in Keds (not like, Russell Crowe in “Gladiator” brave, but more like Angela Chase talking to Jordan Catalano brave). They make me feel like myself, like a stylish, comfortable, fun Lily. 🙂 Isn’t that lovely?

Stay golden,

As a shoe lover, I felt the need to dedicate an entire post to graduation shoes. Since you’ll be wearing your cap and gown for the ceremony, your shoes are where you can really show off your style and personality! I’m a high heel kind of girl (I’m 5′ 00″, so I don’t have much of a choice), so I put together a splurge or snag list of a few of my favorite formal stilettos:

SPLURGE: Jimmy Choo | SNAG: Ivanka Trump

Honestly, nothing compares to these Jimmy Choos… They’re definitely an over-the-top shoe, but paired with a simple yet elegant dress, they’d be a show stopper.

SPLURGE: Miu Miu | SNAG: Michael Kors

Out of these two, I actually prefer to snag! I love the more open front and the leaf-like cutouts.

SPLURGE: Manolo Blahnik |SNAG: Jessica Simpson

If your graduation gown is a neutral color, either of these shoes would pair perfectly. After all, it’s fun to add a little spice to the mix.

Of course before you get your heart set on the perfect grad shoes, make sure you can walk in them comfortably—you do not want to trip across the stage!

I am totally in love with one of this season’s staples: platform shoes. They’re the perfect statement to add to any outfit. When I wear them, I feel like I could be walking around town with both Angela Chase and Alexa Chung. Platform boots, pumps and sandals have been seen across the runways this season, showing up at Rochas, Marni and Marc Jacobs. Here are some of my favorites to inspire you!

Topshop Akita Bootie | Topshop Atom Platform Boot | Topshop Allsorts Platform Boot

I love all three of these styles, especially the pink lace-ups that remind me of classic ’50s roller skates. The accent of white on the Akita boots is also incredibly cool. Platform boots look great when paired with a short, loose-fitting dress.

Topshop Wallis Sandal | DV by Dolce Vita Zenith Sandal | Topshop Wilder Wedge

How wonderful are these? They’ll add personality and style to any outfit, and the black-and-white color scheme makes them super versatile. I love the way thick bands and buckles modernize these ’90s-retro sandals.

Try any of these darling shoes to lift up your spring looks!
