Trend Spotting

Woah. Can you guys believe its already May? On the calendar, summer is oh-so-close—but in terms of heat, summer is already here in Cali. 90 degrees, all day, everyday.

One of my favorite parts about the rising temperatures is letting my toes have the spotlight. (Pedicures are in order first!) There’s just something so refreshing about letting my feet breathe.

Here are three of my favorite sandal styles right now:

Gladiator Girl
Every summer I go crazy for gladiator sandals. Whether you love the fierce knee-high style or something more subtle, there are endless gladiator styles out there right now.

The Birkenstock
Ok, ok, I’ll admit that I wasn’t exactly a fan of  Birkenstocks at first, but they’re definitely growing on me. The more I see Birks, the more I like them. There are so many prints and colors, one for every girl’s style.

Gimme Glam
Ah, my favorite. My girly girl side comes out when I see these bejeweled sandals. How cute are they?! I want them. All of them.

Which sandal style is your favorite?

Pastels here, pastels there… there seems to be pastels everywhere this spring! French macarons, delicate florals, Sofia Coppola films and strawberry ice-cream all come to my mind when I dream of pastels.

I’ve picked some of my favorite Nordstrom pieces, so we can all add a bit of pastel perfection to our spring wardrobes.

I think this look is quite perfect for Easter Sunday. Fun, girly, and extra peachy! Also, doesn’t this necklace look like peaches & cream?!

Skater Dress | Statement Necklace | Wedge Sandal

This second outfit is my personal favorite and ultra modern. I imagine that the scalloped white tee would look like clouds on top of this pastel blue skort… it’d look like an “absolute dream.” (Yes, I’m currently reading “The Great Gatsby.”) 🙂

Whether they’re purple or pink, I adore these skinny jeans. Her impeccably girly style must be the reason why I could totally see Lauren Conrad rocking these pastel pants. Also, if pastel pink or purple had a scent, it would definitely be philosophy’s ‘amazing grace’ perfume.

What pastel palette will you be wearing this spring?

For me, February was not only about lovebut the love of FASHION! Fashion Week is in full effect and I’ve selected some of my favorite looks from the New York shows, compliments of  The Thread.

Prabal Gurung
Fur has a been a huge trend lately. Prabal Gurung combined different fur textures to create this stylish coat. It’s definitely #wonderfur.

Jason Wu
Jason Wu gave us fur fever, as well, with this olive-brown asymmetrical number.

My favorite look: this cappuccino-colored satin dress. Its simplicity speaks volumes, and something about the color is truly mesmerizing.

3.1 Phillip Lim
I am a huge fan of layers, and these 3.1 Phillip Lim threads are everything. I especially love the combination of leather and plaid.

Donna Karan
Donna Karan made further explorations of the fur trend. I love the combination of plum and gunmetal.

Oversized Street Style at NYFW

As you all can tell from my OOTD posts, I love the oversized trend. Here are a couple of my favorite street style looks from New York Fashion Week (NYFW) that showcase this trend:

Look 1
This is exactly what I imagine when I think “street style in New York.” It hits all the marks: all black, oversized jacket and sunnies, grid patterns and a wide-brimmed hat. On top of all that, she is wearing a red lip. Her hair is perfectly tucked back, which lets the focus stay on her outfit.

Look 2
This look is a little more boho. Who needs a jacket when you’ve got an oversized turtleneck? Her high-low skirt has just enough drape that she’s not drowning in fabric.

I love the black-and-white trend and I love oversized clothing, and these two looks give the perfect blend of both.

We meet again for my very last cold shoulder look…

I think this outfit captures the ‘new bohemian’ trend that’s huge right now. You know, boho pieces but with a more modern twist? Everything’s still very flowy, but think black and white, bold jewelry and altogether a contemporary, minimalist feel.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this chopped-up cold-shoulder series. 🙂

I’d love to thank the lovely Billie Nelson for photographing this entire series!

Trend Spotting: Bohemian Spring

Spring has almost sprung, and in anticipation of the upcoming season, I’ve been keeping up with all the soon-to-be trends. One trend I’ve seen a lot of is the whole “carefree, boho babe” trend. So, of course, I just had to show you some of the key essentials you’ll need to transform yourself into a Bohemian Princess this spring.

1. Printed Pants

2. Floppy Hats

3. Khaki

4. Layered Necklaces

5. Duster Cardigans

And there ya’ have it! All the pieces you’ll need to become a trendy, bohemian fashionista (because who wouldn’t want that?) this spring.

Yours truly,

Trend Spotting: Pretty In Pink

Pink isn’t just a color, it’s a lifestyle. “Happiness,” “femininity,” “confidence,” “bubbly” and “empowerment” are just a few of the many words that come to mind when I think pink. Since pink is my power color, I love incorporating it into my everyday wardrobe.

Here are just a few of my fave pink ensembles:

Yours truly,

It’s been a while since I took out the polishes and painted my teeny tiny nails, so I thought I’d spare you lovelies my horrid nail painting and instead show you some of my favorite nail trends for the early months of 2015:

White Nails
I love the simple and clean look of white nails. They’re bound to match your outfit and look hella fresh.

Beige Nails
Beige, nude and neutral polishes will always be a staple. Like white, they match anything and everything. Plus, you can go for more pinky hues to add a feminine touch, or camel colors for an everyday basic.

Nail Decals
As I was perusing the Nordstrom website, I was happily surprised to find these supercute nail decals. If you’re someone who loves extra detail on nails, but hasn’t mastered the skill yet: Have no fear, adorable nail decals are here! (And they can even be used as temporary tattoos.)

From feminine and sophisticated  to urban sporty, it looks like New Balances will find their way onto every kind of girls’ feet this season. It seems fashion has a way of repeating itself, and I’d say NB’s have made a comeback. One thing I love about them (besides comfort, of course!), are their gorgeous colors. Plum, maroon, navy and spotted gray are just a few of my favorites.

Here’s how I like to style my New Balances:

Happy New Year, lovelies! Before jumping into the whole “new year, new me” attitude, I’d thought I’d reflect on this past year and share with y’all all the fashion, beauty, and random favorites that got me through 2014. Enjoy!

1. Floral Dresses
Dresses+floral print=my weakness! Looking back on 2014, this girly silhouette was definitely my go-to clothing item of choice.

2. Tea
I think it’s pretty safe to say that ALL the bloggers are obsessed with tea. Plum-passion fruit, extra-sweetened, please!

3. Boots and Knee Socks
It’s pretty self-explanatory why I’ve been lovin’ rocking this totes adorbz combo.

4. Pink Eyeshadow
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to makeup. But pink shimmery eyeshadow was one thing I could be seen sporting almost every day.

5. Statement Necklaces
Pretty sure most of y’all could have guessed this one. I mean, just look at any and all of my posts, haha. 🙂

6. Blue Nail Polish
I laavveeee any shade of nail polish, but this cool tone took the cake in 2014.

7. Flannels
Whether worn own their own or bundled up between layers, flannels were (and still are) a fashion essential.

8. Fashion Bloggers
Since I’m a blogger, I of course have my fair share of blogger crushes! My number-one blogger inspiration for this past year was Gal Meets Glam. Between her impeccable style, amazing travels, and to-die-for photography,  Julia is everything I aspire to be.

I’d love to know what some of your must-haves for 2014 were, so leave me a comment down below.

Yours truly,
