Elizabeth Cole's home Style

Elizabeth Cole Jewelry Is Made to Be Seen, Even When Not Worn

Forget peacocking, parrots are the new bird mascots of the fashion set. That was our thought when we saw designer Stephanie Owen’s glitzy menagerie. Owen is the designer and founder of Elizabeth Cole jewelry, a collection of outsized statement pieces in rainbow shades that get smiles and create big looks. Her crystal feathered friends first caught our eye, but other charming characters and her elegant, classic danglers equally captivate. Fashion mavericks like Katy Perry and Mary J. Blige have also fallen for her flash.

When we spoke with Stephanie recently, we learned about her personal trove of costume jewelry, her love of interior design and how she displays her rhinestone stash around her artful home.

Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What on Her Lulu DK Jewelry Collab

It’s a bit of an understatement to say #OOTD queen Danielle Bernstein wields influence across the blogosphere. Her Instagram feed boasts over 1.8 million followers, her fashion blog, WeWoreWhat, has added menswear and home decor to its all-that-is-stylish content arsenal, she’s launched a few of her own womenswear lines, and Forbes magazine named her a Top Influencer and a 30 Under 30 in Fashion and Art & Style for 2017.

So when someone with that much style clout takes on a capsule jewelry collection, you know it’s going to be worthwhile. The New York blogger recently joined forces with esteemed accessories designer Lulu de Kwiatkowski of Lulu DK to create an of-the-moment interpretation of high-end vintage baubles. The results are 14-karat gold-plated lockets, dainty chokers, blinged-out earring cuffs and other layer-friendly pieces ranging from $38 to $88—all available exclusively at Nordstrom for the next two weeks.

Mother’s Day Gift Picks from the Founders of MOTHER

Mother knows best. It’s true. And if said savvy mom also has impeccable taste, she’ll want to peruse the musings of Katie Hintz-Zambrano and James Kicinski-McCoy, journalists, mamas and founders of MOTHER. Their digital digest shares maternal inspiration, news roundups, lifestyle tips and profiles in courage of mommies everywhere. What sets MOTHER apart from mommy blogs is its high-mindedness and sophistication. Sample topics include “Why Being a Stay-at-Home Mom & Feminist Aren’t Mutually Exclusive” and “The Many Benefits of Roughhousing with Your Kids.” Sample shopping lists feature Stella McCartney shoes, beautiful and bougie baby clothes, hemp oil and oil paintings. “My background is in journalism and as soon as I had my son, Diego, in the spring of 2013, I could see a gaping hole in the market for a full-service parenting site with a stylish bent,” explains Hintz-Zambrano, who resides in San Francisco. “Something that treated women as multi-dimensional people beyond being mothers. I met James [who’s in Nashville] a few months later on a press trip and we decided to join forces.”

The result is a parenting destination that’s as layered as the ladies who run it. In anticipation of Mother’s Day, we asked the multi-hyphenate hyphenates at MOTHER to share their celebration plans and gift ideas, because they definitely know best.

Men’s Fashion Style

Levi’s Tailor Shop at Nordstrom Men’s Store NYC (AKA Your Jeans’ Ultimate Customization Destination)

There are hundreds of purveyors of denim out there, but only one can call itself Levi’s. The brand’s founder, Levi Strauss, patented blue jeans back in the 1870s for prospectors and settlers—men who needed durable workwear pants with give, thanks to strategically placed rivets. In 1890, his company released the 501®—and, well, the rest is history.

Today, almost all of us have a pair (or 10) of Levi’s hanging in our closet. Some so beat up we can’t leave the house in them—but because of that legendary killer fit, we can’t bear to throw them out. Which is why we’re excited to announce our one-of-a-kind partnership with Levi Strauss & Co. in our new Men’s Store NYC: the Levi’s Tailor Shop. The crafty crew will repair that prized pair in no time. They’ll also alter or customize your other denim darlings, whether they need a new hemline or a custom-order chain-stitched embroidered eagle. (And, yes—even your non-Levi jeans are welcome. Bring in anything denim and they’ll work their magic!)

Putting the Everyday in Earth Day: Amour Vert’s Sustainable Everyday Basics

Often when we think of innovation in fashion, we think of cutting-edge designs, cool new pop-ups or unexpected collabs. But what about upending the conventional clothing supply chain? It’s rife with energy inefficiencies, pollution issues and even human rights concerns. It’s a serious drain on the environment—from thread production right down to garment manufacturing and distribution. As Earth Day approaches, now’s as good a time as any to discover creative clothing companies that are challenging the unsustainable status quo. Enter Amour Vert.

Amour Vert—French for “green love”—was founded by the wife-husband team of Linda Balti and Cristoph Frehsee, who met in 2007 at a defense industry conference in Abu Dhabi. Cristoph, who’d just sold his landmine-clearing company, convinced Linda, an engineer working on fighter-jet simulators, to take a leap of faith: quit her job in France and backpack around the world. “And at that time we were not engaged. We were just dating,” says Linda. “I was like, ‘That’s a bit crazy, but let’s do it.'”
