Fun fact: Comme des Garçons and Drake share the graphic designer Filip Pagowski. The creator of the Japanese fashion brand’s iconic, anthropomorphic heart also worked on the visuals for Drake’s new album Views.
If you’re in Toronto right now, you’ve probably seen Pagowski’s Views on a billboard downtown. That’s how you do it if you’re winning. Huge billboard downtown promoting your album.
Nevermind that grunge fashion was an oxymoron when Nirvana was ruling back in the ’90s. There was a lot of good style in all that bad style. The look you see above endures from that era, pretty much the modern version of The Cobain: cardigan + faded jeans by Commes des Garçon and Levi’s Vintage Clothing.
And in case you need inspiration for how to dress ’90s style with twist of modern grunge: let us not forget the plaid flannel shirt. Seen here with Levi’s Vintage Clothing and a bomber jacket.
You don’t have to style the flannel like that, tying it around your waist. But it’d be a lot cooler if you did.
