Get the Look: Copenhagen Fashion Week

Copenhagen Fashion Week wrapped up last week, but great style never really leaves the Scandinavian metropolis. So many independent fashion designers have their headquarters there, amid the design centers, schools and architecture offices that heavily populate Denmark’s capital. On an average day, the fashions on its residents are enviably cool in a kicked-back way. But when the fashion world descends on this small country, it makes for serious street-style spotting.
Here are just a few looks from CFW that we plan on emulating, and here’s how.
Attribute the chicness of this outfit to its classic components; its cool factor, however, relies on the play of proportion and luxe accessories. An oversized blouse with high-waist pants is a forgiving combo to throw on any day. Add a smoking slide or loafer mule for an elegant touch.
This is another outfit you could live in. Pretty ballet flats anchor a floaty floral dress offset by edgy accessories. Shield sunglasses and a belt bag aren’t obvious additions to such a feminine style, which is why they immediately update the peasant dress for the present.
Another comfy-cool look that is also unbelievably cheerful. We love the playful colored accessories. You just can’t help but smile at the embroidered sky-blue purse and yellow sneakers. Throw on a denim jacket and you’re good come rain or shine—or both, as is often the case in Copenhagen.
Athleisure gets some polish with the flourish of a jaunty scarf. The key to incorporating activewear is to keep it casual but add an unexpected element, something that shows you’re not fresh from a workout. Baggy trousers, cool shades and this knotted scarf clearly signal that.
