Snapped: Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot this latest campaign and were also behind the lens for Wu’s fall and spring 2013 imagery.

“The original ‘Daphne’ bag was inspired by the ’40s frame bag, modernized by a much softer structure and a relaxed attitude,” Wu said from his New York studio while in the midst of preparing his fall ’14 collection to be shown at Fashion Week next month. “I have since evolved the original shoulder bag shape into a series, including the newest introduction, the ‘Daphne’ tote.”

So who’s the inspiration behind this collectible handbag series? “I met model Daphne Groeneveld a few seasons ago when she first arrived in New York and just fell in love with her. Daphne’s striking, classic-with-a-twist look reminds me so much of this bag that I decided to name it after her.”

Bellissima: These supple Italian-crafted ‘Daphne’ bags are richly textured, capturing Wu’s cutting-edge point of view.
