NARS’ Romantic Goth at Rodarte | Backstage Beauty

NARS artist James Kaliardos left it all up to the lip when making a statement Tuesday at the Rodarte showcase.
Ethereal meets goth was the mash-up Kaliardos was aiming for when imagining the look for Rodarte’s fall show. Beautifully romantic faces met with a contrast of deep color to keep in line with the mostly black, mostly lace designs. Yes, the look was pretty, but it was also a bit intimidating. A tough-girl, “don’t mess with me” vibe was introduced with a vampy lip to counter the shimmering, bare faces. If you’re ever in a pinch during your morning routine, or feel like making a dark statement come the next dinner party, follow Kaliardos’s quick and simple steps for a fashion-forward look. Prep your skin with NARSskin Luminous Moisture Cream and Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer. Follow up with Velvet Matte Skin Tint and Radiant Creamy Concealer to even out color under the eyes and around the nose. Dust your skin with Soft Velvet Loose Powder for a matte touch that’s still transparent.Cover your lids with a light layer of shimmery Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow (try Antares if you’re fair-skinned and Dione if you’re a shade or two darker) and line them lightly with Larger Than Life Long Wear Eyeliner in Via Appia’s copper hue. Hint: you can also use the Antares shade to highlight your cheekbones; combine it with Miss Liberty Highlighting Blush, Satellite of Love Highlighting Blush and the Deep Rose side of the Paloma Contour Blush for a tonal flush.More dual-purpose products: Audacious Mascara and the Matte Black side of the Pandora Duo Eyeshadow, which coated the models’ bold brows. Use Liv Audacious Lipstick and Train Bleu Velvet Matte Pencil to stain your lips and make a solid statement for fall.
