Nordstrom Toronto: Model Ash Foo on Dressing Up in Her Grandparents’ Things and Gluten-Free Waffles
To celebrate the opening of our new store at CF Toronto Eaton Centre—it opens today!—we’ve been talking to some of the city’s model residents while photographing them on the streets—and sometimes rooftops—of their stunning metro.
Model Ash Foo has walked in her share of Fashion Week runways (Naeem Khan, Vivienne Westwood, Lela Rose, Milly and more) and appeared in a number of international Vogue issues. But she’s most at home in Toronto, where her family resides. We caught up with the model behind the scenes of our shoot to celebrate the new Toronto store. She told us about her most-prized fashion possessions and the waffles she’s craving now in her hometown.
How long have you been modeling?
I’ve been modeling for about two years now.
If you weren’t doing your current job, what would you do?
If not for modeling, I would most likely be back in Toronto in college studying fashion!
Favorite article of clothing—the kind you wear so much you’re worried it’s going to fall apart?
I have an oversized denim button-down that used to be my grandfather’s. It’s a staple and will never go out of style in my heart!
Favorite article of clothing you only bust out on special occasions?
A very gorgeous pair of diamond earrings that were my grandmother’s. My mom would never let me wear them unless it was a very VERY special occasion.
You know Toronto style. What product should we make sure to stock a lot of at our Toronto store?
Probably winter gear, because Canada is cold the majority of the year!
Favorite food in Toronto?
My favorite restaurant is a new vegan spot called Kupfert & Kim. I recommend the gluten-free waffles with coconut ice cream.
A chai latte with almond milk!
How would you spend 24 hours in Toronto?
In the comfort of my parents’ home with my dog and my best friends, cooking and baking and being the happiest I can be! It’s like being a kid again.
