Paris Fashion Week, March 5: Lanvin
Highlights and commentary from yesterday’s Lanvin runway show: in anticipation of the Jeanne Lanvin exhibition at the Palais Galliera, Alber Elbaz pays homage to the late designer with a luscious, retrospective collection that draws from—among many other inspirations—history, Morocco and the lost art of glamour.
Fashion Office Bottom Line: “Alber Elbaz’s latest offering is a relatively pared down collection that plays to many of the house’s signatures. From perfectly draped jersey dresses held in place with chic leather harnesses to fringed and patched furs layered in golden jacquards, the pieces morph effortlessly, illustrating both the rigor of vintage riding uniforms as well as the luxe glamour of ’70s bohemia. The tall military-inspired boot that grounds many of the looks will definitely top next fall’s wish list.” —Red Godfrey, V.P. Fashion Office
