Hunter Boots Were Alive and Kicking at Glastonbury 2017 (Even Though It Barely Misted)

It was no mud bath this year. In fact, the Glastonbury Festival barely got a proper Sunday drizzle, which is far from usual for the legendarily mucky music fest (but given Britain’s recent heat wave, not a complete shocker). Nonetheless, tactical festival-goers donned their favorite Hunter wellies, just in case. And as you might expect, plenty of stylish celebs were in the mix, including Adwoa Aboah, Suki Waterhouse, Alexa Chung and Cara Delevingne.

Check out our slide show after the jump to see how the A-listers rocked their Hunter gear without a puddle to dodge.

From Our Friends at Who What Wear: 5 Red Carpet-Approved Handbag Trends Everyone Should Try IRL

While I love shoes as much as the next person (seriously, my closet is overflowing with them at this point), it’s bags that I love most when it comes to accessories. There’s nothing I enjoy more than turning to the runway or the street-style set to identify the cool handbag trends we’ll soon be seeing everywhere (ring bags à la Chloé, anyone?). But to be honest, I often spot some of the chicest new silhouettes on the red carpet. And while you’d think most of these styles would be too fancy for your everyday life, I’m here to tell you that some top finds can seamlessly fit into your closet and work for both formal and casual occasions.

Red Carpet handbags

Ahead, you’ll find five handbag trends that stun on the red carpet and have the potential to be stunning on you as well. I promise there’s something for everyone here. Because when it comes to completing your perfect outfit, it’s in the (red carpet) bag.

Ashley Williams Will Never Grow Up, She Will Never Grow Up

With Alexa Chung and other brilliant Brit It girls in the front row—wearing current-season Ashley Williams graphic teesthe SPACE designer presented a spring collection heavily stamped with the words, “First Born.” As if playing with the messy family dynamics of that phrase, the runway was strewn with what appeared to be the chaotic scene of a teenager’s bedroom.

And yet, the pieces presented were very much for grown-up cool girls. There were work suits for girls who like mom jeans, there were long-sleeve T-shirt dresses for skatepark club nights, there were exaggerated puffy sleeves, matchy two-piece slogan sets and cropped bombers and letterman’s jackets. And they all quietly insisted that we take them seriously. It’s typically a boring cliché to call someone’s work their “best yet,” but we’re finding ourselves wanting to do that here after kicking of the first day of London Fashion Week.

What to Wear to Fashion Week: Statement Jackets

Fashion Week bomber jacket

A sure way to get noticed at Fashion Week is to sport a stylish, attention-grabbing jacket. Outside the shows, outerwear serves as a quick signal to the paparazzi on where to aim their lenses. And it’s not just during the spring shows, which take place in the cooler winter months, that an outer layer becomes a fashion essential: during all fashion seasons a jacket is a key investment piece for upgrading your wardrobe. After all, you can wear it daily with a lot of visibility, but it doesn’t have to determine what goes on underneath.

Fashion Week jackets
There are a few jacket silhouettes that have dominated the street-style scene in recent Fashion Months. As with all great wardrobe pieces, how each construction is worn and interpreted remains very much up to the individual. Here are some of our favorite shapes from Fashion Week, as well as styles you can shop now during this prime jacket season, as summer transitions into fall.

Everybody (No Hyperbole) Was Wearing Hunter Boots at Glastonbury 2016

It’s almost tradition now—ever since Kate Moss was the first to be smart enough to slip on a pair of the rain boots with her teeny cutoffs in the ’90s, Hunter boots are the official footwear of Glastonbury. After all, the storied music festival gets muddy—and this year was thought by many to be the muckiest. But braving the elements is part of the fun, right?

In 2016, Moss’s kid sister, Lottie, was among the throngs of festivalgoers—along with Pixie Geldof, Alexa Chung, the Delevingne sisters—who did likewise. See our slideshow after the jump to watch how the style set handles puddles while the music plays on.

London Street-Style Stars to Watch

These are the people we can’t wait to see hit the pavement at LFW. Expect them to pull out all the stops for the second leg of runway shows.

Julia Sarr-Jamois

Queen of risk-taking, freelance stylist and senior fashion editor at i-D magazine Julia Sarr-Jamois is street style’s unparalleled It girl. A pioneer of streetwear’s now ubiquitous fashion sweatshirt, the London native boasts a signature fro and enviable free spirit. Usually packing color, texture and pattern into her ensembles, Sarr-Jamois could just as easily throw on perfectly weathered vintage jeans and tees and still stand out among the crowds.

Street Style: Diletta at Etro

Flared overalls are clearly a trending item this season. The Seventies takeover has dominated the Italian street-style scene, and Diletta is a prime example. This look is fully retro, but feels so contemporary at the same time. I love the sheen of these slim overalls and Diletta’s color palette is perfect for the throwback era. Long waves and a natural face work seamlessly with this Seventies style.

Crystal Nicodemus
