Annie Georgia Greenberg Is Taking Over Our Instagram—and the World of Virtual Reality and Interesting Subcultures

At 27, Annie Georgia Greenberg is already in her second career. Sort of. She’s been a key personality at Refinery29 for almost as long as Refinery29 has been Refinery29. As a senior fashion editor she killed the game of knowing what was moving and shifting and trending—and why. Now that she’s the style/lifestyle media brand’s video producer and all-around emerging media lady boss, she travels the world making virtual reality and 360 video about humankind’s most interesting subcultures and arcane communities. Sometimes her stories intersect with fashion, and sometimes they don’t.

A short list of things she’s covered using innovative storytelling methods: cowboy poets, World AIDS Day, LGBT rights, and the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. And Fashion Month.

“I feel really privileged to be able to bear witness to the center of a lot of worlds—a lot of different kinds of people’s worlds,” she told us after we met up on Sunday afternoon. “I just want to tell stories, to create time capsules of our shared and unique human experiences.”

We managed to coax her away from the drones and new age cameras for a while (it didn’t actually require any coaxing) to do some vintage hunting around Paris with the most analog camera we could manage. Fashion people who spend their weekends looking for Dior shoes from the 6os while carrying around an Instax—that’s a cultlike subset of passionate personalities too, right?

Designer Preview Review 2015: The Night in Images, Obsessions, It Girls and More

Although our first and foremost wish is to make terrific people unreasonably happy (isn’t that what fashion is for, after all?), we consider it a nice bit of icing on the cake when we can knock the designer shoes off the industry elite. Our annual Designer Preview provides a golden opportunity for all that, so immediately after last Thursday’s big event, we circulated the crowd and chatted with thrilled shoppers and visiting dignitaries alike to see how we’d done.

“I’ve been coming for years and this was the best show I’ve seen. The clothes are all so fresh and the energy is really high,” said Seattle flagship regular Lisa Goodman. “I think it’s important for people to see the collections in action like this!”

And then, from Refinery29 style editor Annie Georgia Greenberg: “When you see the shows in New York and Paris, the seasons you’re looking at are so far away, but this is really cool because you can go ‘I want that now,’ and right after the show you can actually have it. All that and beignets and sailboats, too? This is how Fashion Week should be!”

And that almost sums it up—almost. See more images from the runway show, and the before and after, and get some insight from bloggers, editors and fashion lovers after the jump and on our Designer Preview hub.

What to Wear to Nordstrom Designer Preview

Collections from top American and European designers are almost never shown together on one runway, but each summer Nordstrom pulls together amazing fall looks from Céline, Valentino, Lanvin and more for a best-of-the-best fashion show event known as Designer Preview. This year’s gorgeous parade is on July 23—on the epic Seattle waterfront—and as always, all proceeds benefit the Seattle Art Museum.

Among those expected in the front row: One of our favorite collaborators, Caroline Issa, and two of the most girl crush-worthy editors from Refinery29, Annie Georgia Greenberg and Paula Goldstein. Instagrammin’ style watchers will recognize Cara Van Brocklin from Cara Loren, Blair Eadie from Atlantic-Pacific and Wendy Nguyen from Wendy’s Lookbook—all flying in for the big event.

You’re invited too, of course—tickets are available via SAMS, Seattle Art Museum’s supporter group. The only question left to settle, then, is what will we all wear?

Street Style: Christine and Annie Outside Jardin des Tuileries

As you already know, these two lovelies from Refinery29 (Christine Barberich and Annie Georgia Greenberg) are two of my all-time favorite street-style stars. They have amazing style obviously, but they also aren’t afraid to experiment and have fun with fashion. Today, these babes brought out some casual denim and great heels. Christine’s voluminous top is gorgeous and adds an interesting element of proportion play to her look. Annie’s Isabel Marant-inspired jumper is a perfectly cozy transitional piece.

Each X Other Kicks Off at the Palais de Tokyo and a Refinery29 Editor on How to Do the Rest of Paris Fashion Week from Your Laptop

Fashion Week Journal for Tuesday, March 3

moving-balls

In case you were thinking Paris was going to kick off all featherlight and pinky froth, Each X Other took its turn in the YOYO room at the Palais de Tokyo at noon with a violin soloist in front of an abstract projection and then a heady text screen before look after look in chicified (that’s a word? yes, for now) pinstripe wool, sleek suiting references with bared shoulders, leather work gear for girls and nubby knits.

Don’t get me wrong, it was gorgeous. But it was serious business too.

Street Style: Annie at Michael Kors

My girl Annie Georgia Greenberg is back on The Thread with another great look. Today’s outfit is all about one of the most popular colors of the year: baby blue. Navy and grey elements give some depth. Wide-leg denim is trending heavily here and this light-washed, high-waisted pair feels both current and vintage. See you in Europe, Annie!

Street Style: Annie at Karen Walker

We all know I have a total girl crush on Refinery29’s Annie Georgia Greenberg. She’s so good at making current trends feel completely authentic to her own personal style. Annie is channeling the Seventies today with her amazing high-waisted bell bottoms and fringed suede jacket. Fun fact: she borrowed this jacket from her mom’s closet!

Street Style: Annie at Rebecca Minkoff

Annie Georgia Greenberg is yet another one of my favorite style stars. As the NYC editor of Refinery29.com, Annie’s personal style is always on point. I think my favorite thing about Annie, however, is her attitude. She has so much fun with fashion and isn’t afraid to get creative. She is a master at mixing modern and vintage, high and low. Today’s belted look is daring, cool, and perfectly seasonal. Her signature red lip and cascading waves are the cherry on top.

Street Report: Annie Outside Prabal Gurung

I have a total style crush on Annie Georgia Greenberg, a senior style editor at Refinery29. She loves to have fun with fashion—and during Fashion Week, a sense of humor is necessary! Today’s look has vintage appeal with some modern twists. I am obsessed with gingham, so this bold print is a standout. A bright coral lip and some retro mod clear shades cap off the look. Can’t wait to see what’s next for Annie!
