White Haute

Clean up your fashion act with bright whites. Crisp and chic, bleached-out accents are signaling that summer is almost here.

Sporty white timepieces are popping; white stacked wedges and heels add a streamlined edge to short hemlines; milky white jewelry does any outfit good. And for the ultimate in summer style? Whitewash your entire ensemble, from head to toe.

Vintage Catalog: The Jumpsuit, 1970

Breezy jumpsuits are looking fresh and modern—even though they made their sartorial debut more than 40 years ago. Updated prints and cuts are now making this an easy piece for a jump-start to your summer.

Let’s look past the ‘Brady Bunch’ background and ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ eyeshadow, and talk about how we’d put a current spin on that ‘70s glam.

1 – Ditch those block-heel shoes in favor of strappy flat sandals for a casual outfit, or simple wedges for a dressier version.
2 – For a wider-leg jumpsuit, make sure the hem skims the top of your toes—this 1970 look could be a little longer.
3 – Let the jumpsuit take center stage by adding a simple crossbody bag and streamlined jewelry.
4 – Channel your inner Charlie’s Angel confidence, and you’re good to go.

The Shirtdress: One Piece, Four Ways

Here’s a time-saver: A shirtdress can morph from polished to casual in seconds. Check out our four ways for working this staple—seen here in spring’s happiest shade—both in and out of the office.

Sleek simplicity. Let the dress do the talking and adorn with simple but beautiful accessories. [Pictured: Nordstrom Bangles, Nordstrom Scallop Statement Necklace, Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique Shirtdress]

Business chic. Power up your look with a crisp white blazer (another of our favorite pieces right now) and neutral heels. Keep things interesting with a brilliant bag. [Pictured: Cole Haan Slingback Pump, Theory Double Breasted Jacket, Elliot Lucca Tote, Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique Shirtdress]

Night out. Go glam with metallic extras. Instead of color, think exotic texture and shine. [Pictured: Via Spiga Python Belt, Enzo Angiolini Sandal, Vince Camuto Clutch, Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique Shirtdress]

Wherever weekend. Add textured everything—a craft bag and easy-walking flat, even your belt. We love the thrown-together ease. [Pictured: Fina Firenze Stretch Belt, Hinge ‘Tanner’ Sandal, Steven by Steve Madden Tote, Persol Sunglasses, Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique Shirtdress]

DVF ♥ Current/Elliott: Now Available

The much-anticipated Diane von Furstenberg and Current/Elliott denim collaboration is now available at Nordstrom (let’s talk printed denim pants, printed denim skirt, denim wrap dress…it’s jeanius!).

Also worthy of note: “Writer’s Block”, directed by Gia Coppola, takes us inside the life of a young Hollywood screenwriter, who happens to have a most enviable DVF wardrobe.

Spring’s Casual Layers: Our 3 Go-Tos

Spring’s warmer days can still come with a chill. We’re sharing our favorite light layers to have on hand for transitioning weather—perfect for maintaining your casual polish when a breeze picks up during al fresco brunches or lazy days on the boat.

Scarves. Sure, this one’s a no-brainer, but it bears repeating: A lightweight scarf is an easy way to make a statement and simply tucks into (or ties onto) your handbag when temperatures rise. Find some inspiration with our 16 ways to wear a scarf video.

Open-Weave Knits. Toss over fitted tanks and maxi dresses to keep your casual spring outfits loose and airy while still looking put together.

Denim Shirts. Reach for one of these anywhere you would a denim jacket. They’ve got that classic look, but feel a lot breezier—and there are so many ways to wear them.

One last tip: Adding an extra layer is just one more versatile way to express that amazing personality of yours. Whether your passion is color, pattern, playful proportions or all of the above, have fun mixing it up!

Earning Your Stripes, Chilean Style

This season’s bright hues and bold stripes have your editors waxing nostalgic for the mild, sub-tropical climate and color-washed public spaces of Valparaiso, Chile.

Our inspiration: Local lore in Valparaiso (Valpo, if you’re in the know) says that boat painters used to place excess buckets on the docks, leaving townspeople free to coat their city with the saturated pigments. And speaking of saturated, what could be better for exploring one of Chile’s most vibrant places—or any warm-weather destination—than this Splendid stripe maxi dress. It’s flirty, cheery and ready when you are to paint the town red—or whatever color suits your fancy.
