Last Looks: Yesterday’s Runways at EACH X OTHER and Anrealage

EACH X OTHER founders Ilan Delouis and Jenny Mannerheim’s continued enlistment of street poet Robert Montgomery and his melancholic phrases resulted in a thought-provoking fall presentation in Paris.

The majority of the collection, which you could easily pluck off the runway and place on the streets for photographers to mob, met the demand for contemporary cool-kid wears with androgynous tailoring and denim sets. Take the turtlenecks and their midi dress toppers, paperbag-waist skirts and retro patchwork leather jackets. There was also new-age power suiting. The defining edge could be Montgomery’s scratchy embroidered and hand-painted phrases–contemplations like “Poetry finally kills ‘celebrity culture’” and “Seagulls are low planes on fire”–on the necks, backs and cuffs of layers.

Street Style: Pernille at Thierry Mugler

Pernille Teisbaek has truly covetable style. Every time I run into her, I want to copy her look and today was no different. Pernille’s the master of Nordic cool–effortless and ahead of the curve. She’s ticked all the biggest trend boxes with today’s outfit, but manages to make each theme feel fresh and inspiring.

moving-balls

In case you were thinking Paris was going to kick off all featherlight and pinky froth, Each X Other took its turn in the YOYO room at the Palais de Tokyo at noon with a violin soloist in front of an abstract projection and then a heady text screen before look after look in chicified (that’s a word? yes, for now) pinstripe wool, sleek suiting references with bared shoulders, leather work gear for girls and nubby knits.

Don’t get me wrong, it was gorgeous. But it was serious business too.

Street Style: Martha Graeff at Herve Leger

Martha Graeff (Around in Style) is insanely beautiful and stylish. She causes a photog frenzy wherever she goes during NYFW. I can always count on this Brazilian babe for a dramatic look.

Today’s outfit is perfect for New York; it’s got leather, fur, thigh-high boots and a black-and-white palette. Martha’s balanced her sexy boots and fringed skirt with a chunky knit jumper, creating a dynamic, modern city look.

Street Report: Stefania Outside Ermanno Scervino

Hold the phone! These metallic leather joggers are way too amazing to pass up. I would never have thought of putting this outfit together, but Stefania is really working this modern sport look. Her tux lapels and metallic leather feel formal, but the cut and styling of the garments are casual and urban. Leopard sneakers and classic clear shades are cool complements. Way to take an unexpected combination to new heights, Stefania!
