Saving Lions, Cause-metics and Skin Care Secrets with World Traveler Alex Chantecaille

Last year about this time, we chatted with Alex Chantecaille, vice president of sales and promotions for Chantecaille, about her company’s work to protect the wolves of Yellowstone National Park and her travels to Istanbul. It’s been another busy year for Alex.

We spent some time learning about Chantecaille’s newest endeavor to support conservation and hearing about her favorite places from her extensive, enviable travel calendar. Catch up with Alex, pick up a few new beauty secrets and learn more about the new Protect the Lions Collection, from which 5% of proceeds will be donated to Lion Guardians in Africa.

Behind the Scenes with Olivia Kim on Nordstrom’s Fall Brand Campaign

Over four days last June, a Nordstrom/SPACE crew, including VP of Creative Projects Olivia Kim and Creative Projects Director Strath Shepard, trundled around the California desert with photographer Alex Prager in an attempt to slow down time.

Ellery, blowing in the wind.

Months before that, in our offices in Seattle, we had surmised that by the time fashion’s biggest season came around, what we’d really be after was some calm. Some quietude. A few moments of just being still. With all the cultural shifts, societal transformations and big changes in industry and leadership, we figured you might be open to those things as well.

There was only one thing to do: call the woman whose photographs are so stark and singular, so cinematic and timeless that they seem to both void time and define it simultaneously.

In this post we’re sharing Strath and Olivia’s images as a way of getting you behind the scenes—and in the ultimate mood—for a fall that’s full of discovery.

Designer Adam Lippes Loves His Labradoodles and Vodka Cocktails in the Summertime

His first step into fashion was at Polo Ralph Lauren; his second was with Oscar de la Renta—where he spent almost seven years working directly with the legendary founder as the brand’s global creative director. So to say Adam Lippes is primed to be an important name in American luxury ready-to-wear is a bit of an understatement.

Says Vogue.com’s Nicole Phelps in her review of his fall 2016 collection, “He makes luxe clothes that feel of the moment without succumbing to fickle trends.”

But how does a guy like that—richly experienced, expertly angled at a bright future—spend his summer? That’s what we wanted to know.

Victor Alfaro on Taylor Swift’s Hair, New York City Creative Types and His Pre-Fall Lookbook

Every once in a while you come across a set of fashion images that you just want to live inside. You want to be the girl, to explore her landscape, you want—most of all—to wear her clothes.
That’s what happened to me the first time I saw Victor Alfaro‘s pre-fall lookbook. When I had the chance to meet him during Paris Fashion Week, I was hooked.

There’s something so classically New York about Victor’s style, which makes sense—the Mexican-born designer has lived there since the ’80s. And he just seems to understand what women are looking for from season to season. He’s all about layering, and building a wardrobe of looks that will work together for a nice, long time.
He’s also about an edgy jolt and an industrial urban setting. When we asked him to share his evocative pre-fall images with us, he happily complied, then told us all about the collection—and how Taylor Swift figures in. (Or, well … doesn’t.)

Milan Fashion Week: Jimmy Choo’s Creative Director Shares Her Top Three Street-Ready Styles

In a glassy, reflective showroom in Milan stand Jimmy Choo‘s achingly covetable fall ’16 creations. But these shoes are not just meant to be gazed upon; in this street-style-dominated fashion economy, these are next season’s essential sidewalk-ready pieces.

In the spirit of Fashion Week, we asked Creative Director Sandra Choi to give us her top three selects to see—and be seen in—this fall.

Video: Carolina Herrera and Jeffrey Kalinsky’s Polka Dot Party

It’s official! Iconic American designer Carolina Herrera collaborated with Nordstrom VP Fashion Director Jeffrey Kalinsky on a collection as fun as it is fancy—fit for four seasons of soirees, Saturday night dates and Sunday brunches. In a WWD article for subscribers only, Herrera—who’s known for the kinds of dreamy dresses and gala gowns that put celebs on best-dressed lists (see below, from last year’s New York Fashion Week)said the collection was designed to be chic and striking, with silhouette options in silk faille for women to make the look their own.

I have always loved a polka dot motif; it was in my very first collection,” Herrera recalled. For his part, Kalinsky said he’d been wanting to team up with the venerated designer for a while, and so one day he simply picked up the phone and made it happen. You can walk into Jeffrey New York when the collection is released on February 8 and make it happen, too.

UNTIL THEN, THERE’S THIS ADORABLE VIDEO
