The Shoe Trends Every Italian Girl Wore to Milan Fashion Week

Sophia Webster printed Butterfly Wing sanda;

After a long day of pinning and bookmarking runway looks, nothing takes the edge off like losing yourself in a bit of street-style surfing. And if you consider yourself a fashion-month superfan, you can probably identify a city by its unique slew of It girls and street-style moments. New York is effortlessly cool; London is forward and edgy; and Paris is perennially chic. But Milan—well, Milan has more fun. Glamorous and bold, with an “anything goes” attitude, Italian street style is like theater, and we can’t get enough. The outfits literally jump off the pavement with rich colors, unexpected patterns and dramatic flourishes. And when it comes to scene-stealing techniques, fashion girls in Italy understand the power of a great pair of shoes. Because it’s impossible to pick a single favorite style, today we’re rounding up four big shoe trends you’ll see fashion girls wearing all season long. Get ready to take your outfits to the next level with must-have pairs you can shop right now.

Our Photographer’s Favorite Milan Hangouts

We love collecting travel tips from our adventurous friends. Even if we’re not sure when we’ll get to use them, we squirrel them away in the hope that someday we, too, will get to visit these amazing locales.

Since Milan is next on the Fashion Week circuit, we asked our street-style photographer, Kristin Yamada, about her favorite places in the Italian fashion capital. After all, Kristin is basically Italian by choice.

Here’s what she told us not to miss when in Milano.

Caroline Issa Gets “Papped” in Nordstrom Signature Collection

Caroline Issa dropped a new one on us the other day: “papped.”

“I got papped in my pre-fall top and skirt,” she mentioned in an email, and then included a link to street-style photographer Phil Oh’s recent Milan slideshow on Vogue—which made it all crystal clear.

Papped: to be caught looking chic by the fashion paparazzi.

Caroline is used to it, of course, and the fact that this last Milanese moment happened in a look from her Nordstrom Signature collection isn’t surprising. The collection was made to catch eyes in the most low-key, effortless way. It was also made to mix and match, which was one of her big call-outs when it launched and probably why it goes where Caroline, our favorite Fashion Week world traveler, goes.

It couldn’t be any easier to get the look. Explore the whole Nordstrom Signature and Caroline Issa collection.
