You Give, We Give: Great News You Can Use About Nordstrom Gift Cards

Giving the perfect gift is right up there on the list of things that feel amazing, but it just got even better. Nordstrom is now donating 1% of Gift Card proceeds to our nonprofit partners. That means when you give, you give twice. You give powerfully.

We believe in connecting with and empowering the communities we are part of, so we’re thrilled to be supporting organizations that positively impact our cities. As part of our 2015 focus on youth and kids, your Gift Card contributions will help Ronald McDonald House, Boys and Girls Clubs, Special Olympics and other like-minded enterprises as they literally change the world.

For a closer look at how one Northwest-based charity transforms lives via a quintessential childhood experience, keep reading.

Tommy Ton Talks Dream Locations and Ottawa Style

We do love a good Tommy Ton collaboration around here. And really, who wouldn’t? The Ottawa native all but invented the genre of street style photography with his original (now defunct) fashion blog, Jak & Jil, so of course he was our first choice to photograph the flavor of our new stylish neighbors. That’s right: the brand new Nordstrom Ottawa is coming soon.

Check out our Ton-lensed style profiles, and get inside this iconic documentarian’s style history here.

Fashion Photographer Clarke Tolton on Caribbean Eats, San Juan’s Best Beaches, and Nordstrom’s Style Profile Project

Generally speaking, we need no excuse to daydream about Puerto Rico. The beaches…the food…the rich history and culture. But now that we can add the new Nordstrom to that list of Puerto Rico goodness, well, let’s just say the Caribbean archipelago is front and center.

We sent bi-coastal fashion photographer Clarke Tolton—who happens to have been born in San Juan in 1976—to photograph the flavor of our new stylish neighbors. Upon his return, we asked him to reflect on island and global style, best-bet beaches and killer skewered meats of his homeland. Because, you know, hopefully we’ll get there ourselves one of these days.

Caroline Issa’s Moroccan Inspiration

You know the saying “Today is the first day of the rest of your life”? Well, we’d just like to amend that; today is the first day of the rest of your life in the new, exclusive-to-Nordstrom Caroline Issa collection. The style icon and fashion insider’s first collection is all about gorgeously modern classics—pieces that are fresh and chic right now, and will be for years to come.

To celebrate this exciting launch, we had Issa tell us all about Morocco, the source of inspiration for many of these looks. We even got her to share some of her own vacation images—and a few of her inside travel tips.

NEW! Creatures of the Wind

What’s in a name? For the line Creatures of the Wind, it’s fair to say there’s music up in there.

Design duo Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters could’ve played it straight when they left the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to launch their line in 2008. “Gabier and Peters” has a nice ring to it, but give the original Johnny Mathis version of “Wild is the Wind” a listen. It’s got a certain ring, too—one that works very well as an abstracted, somewhat undercover reference point for the beautifully moody and hauntingly romantic line that we’re psyched to welcome to Nordstrom the Grove, Nordstrom San Francisco Centre, and Nordstrom.com this month.

To celebrate the launch, we talked to Shane Gabier about the music, climate, and concepts of their current Spring collection.
