Your Spring Makeup Bag According to Pantone

Spring Fashion Week has long since ended, but we’re still thinking about the cheery pastels and vivacious yellows that we saw on (and off) the runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris. As we poured over Pantone Color Institute’s list of on-trend hues for the spring-summer fashion season, we wondered, how can we incorporate these colors into our beauty too?

Let Pantone’s spring-summer color palette—with soft pinks, punchy reds and cool-toned violets—inspire you to change up your makeup look for the season. Ahead, the lipsticks, eye pencils and highlighters we’re adding to our cosmetics bags for the upcoming warm months.

Watch Your Tone: Beauty Products in PANTONE’s Color(s) of the Year

2016 is a banner year in the world of design. For the first time ever, the color corporation PANTONE announced that the combination of two shades would be designated Color of the Year.

2015’s tint was purple-red Marsala. 2014 was the year of Radiant Orchid. And 2016, well, it’s time for the pretty pairing of Rose Quartz and Serenity. For those in the business or into fashion, the shades aren’t really a surprise: the Spring 2016 runways were overrun with blush and indigo. But it’s the combo that has folks really excited. And your makeup is a great place to begin mixing the two hues. Here are some of our favorite products in rose and blue.

Most Wanted: Pantone’s Radiant Orchid

We adore Pantone’s choice for its 2014 Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid. This pinkish purple is powerful, pretty and perfectly wearable. Incorporate this vibrant floral into any outfit for a dash of instant brilliance.

Pantone Color of 2012: Tangerine Tango

Add a little spice to your wardrobe with Pantone’s color of 2012, Tangerine Tango—it’s as bold and vivacious as Buenos Aires.

A dash deeper and more dramatic than Honeysuckle (the color of 2011), Tangerine Tango is “sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive.…Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, [it] marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®.

Whether you go for a pop of color or a daring, more allover look, here are a few Editor’s Picks to get you kicking up your heels with a little Latin American flair.
