Trend Recap: Retro Futurism

milan-fashion-week-aw15-trend-recap-retro-futurism

‘Retro Futurism’ is an exciting concept developing in Milan. Design houses have years of archives to reference for inspiration, and what we find interesting is how the past—specifically the ’60s and ’70s—is being reinvented with a futuristic approach. With a play on proportion, quirky color mixes and geometric patterns, the past has never looked so good!

Trend Recap: London Fashion Week Top 10

London designers tend to be more about the cult of the individual rather than the same trends showing up in multiple collections. That said, here is our list of the top 10 ideas and themes emerging from across the pond for next fall.

The ’70s influence continues—this time with more of a boho, hippie-deluxe feeling. An intriguing counterpoint to this is the emergence of a hard-edged ’80s new-wave idea paired with a slouchy boot. A darkly glamorous and romantic mood also comes across with lace, new embellishments, tapestry prints and lots of faded vintage winter florals. There are great shearling and statement outerwear options, including the all-important cape, that will help to beat the chill come fall.

Enjoy!
